My impression is that the batches are gradually becoming "lighter" and the style has changed significantly since around 2019. I still like the whiskey, but it is no longer what it used to be: a whiskey that is hard to beat in terms of value for money and is able to bring whiskeys from the past to life. The powerful brother, on the other hand, is still doing well today (2022). Overall I would still give most batches an 84. I don't hesitate to give some of the older ones 87-88.

Nose

Most of the older batches also offered a wonderful nose in the hard-drinking version. Dark fruits, very winey, chocolaty and definitely herbaceous. Today's batches seem to me to be significantly "lighter" and less heavy and charged.

Taste

Soft and fruity with herbs and warm wood. Here, too, it is true that today's batches are felt to be significantly "easier".

Finish

Medium to long, vinous, fruity.

a spicy and malty nose, on soaked wood, cooked fruits (cooked pear-apple)
a silky, soft palate where the malt is highlighted, a little cocoa, roasted and honeyed, a little vanilla and lemon (candied on the zest with a little cooked tangerine), a little fine smoke at this point
final:
sweet, mild sherry, cooked citrus fruits, a little sweet

I just don't get warm with the Couvreur whiskeys. I felt the same way with more expensive bottlings. The sherry just looks too fat and leaves me too little space for the whiskey.

At nose,
fruity kind blend, otherwise it's fat, sweet on the glass!
Lemon scent, a bit grassy, a little smoky, but very light.
In mouth,
spices rather pronounced, then the orange, the prune, back on the lemon finely smoked and on the wooded delicate. A little cocoa.
Finally,
cooked grapes and kernel!
A dram always singular between the barrier between the simple and the very good, on a base surely of Caol Ila young enough at the beginning.

Good whiskey. Price / performance ratio good.

Nose

Slightly sour fruit (grapefruit), cereals and herbs.
Finally, a sweet bitterness. Very balanced.

Taste

Alcohol content optimal! Not very complex but harmonious. Wood notes & nuts. Little fruit and sweetness.

Medium length. Slightly spicy with sour fruit.

Very tasty fruity-sweet malt, which for me is unfortunately a bit too watery and (therefore) too little complex / exciting. Overall, it is tasty, but the surcharge for the barrel-overaged is worth it and is the better malt.

soft fruity-sweet sherry note; Red fruits; Apple; oranges; raisins; delicate notes of tobacco; subtle oak flavor; I can hardly perceive the often mentioned smoke here

N: This is undisclosed Scottish distillate matured in France. The nose is soft and slight.
T: Soft with a thin-ish body. Pleasingly, it develops more gooey.
F: Soft, almost fluffy and almost bone-dry. Hard to decipher between flavours and textures.
C: Try it for the finish alone. Not very convincing yet not half bad.
