Whisky Reviews for Glendronach 2003

- So I have this bottle open for a year and half and it’s due to be finished. This Glendronach benefits from airtime and will improve month after month. It remains a tad sharp in both nose and taste, but with a drop of water it turns nice sweet and fruity. It gives you toffee, cherry, oranges, nuts and some dry leaves aroma’s. I bought a second bottle just before they sold out. At €70 a no-brainer.
- Glendronach as it should be.
Chocolate, dark fruit, coffee and earthy notes.
Coffee again. Furthermore, honey, orange, tobacco, dark fruit, dark chocolate
A medium to long finish, fruity, a pepper and tobacco.
- For my taste, a comparatively weak filling of the GlenDronach Single Cask series.
The whisky is only in a small glass to advantage, otherwise it is quite fast too thin. At the same time, the taste and finish are dominated by strong bitterness notes from the (European) oak, which unfortunately are not integrated into other sherry flavors.
In a small glass develop very beautiful, sweet sherry flavors, butter cake, honey, toffee, caramelized sugar, vanilla.
Short sweet, then quickly bitter-sweet, sweet sherry, pastries, dusty wood, bitter oak notes, spicy aromas, clear espresso. Unfortunately neither creamy nor voluminous.
Medium long, bitter espresso, still slightly dusty, woody spiciness. Somehow thin, by no means full-bodied.
