Whisky Reviews for Glendronach 2003

- For my taste, a comparatively weak filling of the GlenDronach Single Cask series.
The whisky is only in a small glass to advantage, otherwise it is quite fast too thin. At the same time, the taste and finish are dominated by strong bitterness notes from the (European) oak, which unfortunately are not integrated into other sherry flavors.
In a small glass develop very beautiful, sweet sherry flavors, butter cake, honey, toffee, caramelized sugar, vanilla.
Short sweet, then quickly bitter-sweet, sweet sherry, pastries, dusty wood, bitter oak notes, spicy aromas, clear espresso. Unfortunately neither creamy nor voluminous.
Medium long, bitter espresso, still slightly dusty, woody spiciness. Somehow thin, by no means full-bodied.
- Very nice Dronach, good combination of red fruits and chocolate. Very enjoyable.
Nice red fruits, milk chocolate a lot, warm chocolate milk, some earthy notes, moss. Coffee.
A little pickering, coffee, red fruits, some darker chocolate now, honey and oranges. Full and intense, later on some tobacco.
Some pepper, warming, intense. Red fruits, Haribo cherry sweets, pretty long. Now some cigar tobacco in the finish.
- Not the best GD.
Musty and dusty, cheese, mint, honey, rubber, stock (maggi), muscavado sugar, peach, sugared almonds.
Sweet, sour, drying (on pepper), overripe fruits, barley, honey, ginger, almonds.
Slightly drying, sour and oxidizing grapes. Further: honey, plums, ginger.
