    In all these years, I did never come across a bad bottling of Springbank. The 15-year-old expression is more sherried, and surprisingly peaty compared to its younger brother. On the nose, you get smoked salmon, confectionery and pipe tobacco. Hints of damp earth, cough syrup and parsley linger in the back. The taste is strong, austere and a bit fizzy with fresh ginger, orange peel and mineral peat smoke. Almost like a distant dream of Islay, whispering farewell in its long and slightly dry finish. Altogether, this is a rewarding Single Malt and a great value!

      Nice Springbank nose, with that farmy touch.

      More savoury rich on sweet fruit than others I've tried lately.

      A hint of that "burnt electronic" I find in the 12CS, but not as articulated. This is more on burnt out matches and earthy peat.

      Mature cigar and some underlying fat nuttynness.
    • Taste
      Much more upfront on the peat compared to the nose.

      Herbal. Salt. Right amount of spice and suitable abv.

      Bold on cigar/tobacco leaf, with a touch of fresh orange citrus.
    • Finish
      Peat hangs in there to the slightly bitter drying end. Quite long, lingering on cigar leaf and realy dark chocolate.

    Excellent aroma, light, but very saturated with shades and half-tones, a wide palette of derivatives; the taste / finish is simpler, but very pleasant and open, a lot of dry herbs, very much like the Highland Park style, on the whole rather dry and austere.

      Open, dry, first nose - leather goods, mineral-metallic notes; spicy woody tones, old furniture, dried fruits - dried apricots, raisins, figs; dry herbs, sweet creamy shades - boiled condensed milk, fudge, toffee; some deep-frying oil, fried vegetables, milk chocolate, cappuccino, shortcrust pastry, some camphor and resin, coated tablets.
    • Taste
      Calm, rich, spicy oak notes, creamy sweetness, bark astringency, dry medicinal herbs, mineral-metallic tones, cappuccino, chocolate, pipe tobacco, ash.
    • Finish
      Soft, refreshing, delicate notes of oak, bark, light smoky aftertaste, ash, minerality, dry herbs, cappuccino, tobacco leaf.

    Springbank 15, 46%. Consumed Oct 2019. Aroma is huge coal gas, paraffin lamp, stove, crystalline notes behind all of that, touch of ginger sweets, Foxes fruits boiled sweets. Interesting. Fairly muted. Taste is quite muddled with fruit and biscuit cancelling each other out, more of that slight coal gas vibe, thin squash and coal gas, faint chilli and rockpool vibes, touch of burnt egg but all sitting behind that semi fruity edge. It's ok ... quite interesting ... but there's something not quite right. 3.3/79

    Fine, whole, consistent whisky. Smoked and delicate. Big pleasure.

      Pickled apples, smoked malt, peat, delicately, dust and cardboard, mineral, background smoke, sweet vanilla bun in powdered sugar, baked apple, a little salt, iodine, seaweed, sweet gum, vanilla, honey, tobacco, milk chocolate, pie with shortcrust pastry with berry filling.

    An absolutely typical Springbank bottling. Not sanded smooth, but with tasty corners and edges.

      Mineral, salty, with a dash of sherry. Raisins, figs, orange peel zest. Maritime, salty wind that sweeps over the dunes. Sweet and spicy at the same time.
    • Taste
      88 88
      A grip in the candy jar at the corner shop: sweet and fruity with raspberries, strawberries, cherries. At the same time, however, a note of warm machine oil, underlined by damp pebbles and toffee.
    • Finish
      88 88
      Medium to long, pure, clear, mildly spicy and with a hint of the Springbank dirt.
