Whisky Reviews for Bowmore 2002 CA
8 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 84.08 points
- Not an outstanding Bowmore, with a pretty tight palette.
Smoke, citrus, exotic fruits, camphor and salted minerals.
Oily but thin. Salt, lemon peel, engine oil and sawdust.
Medium length, dry with citruses.
- Good but average young Bowmore. Probably give this 83.
Light smoke and wet sandalwood. Lemons. Fresh tropical fruit -Papaya (We call it Paw Paw in the English-speaking Caribbean). Light engine oil. With water more fruits and nail varnish remover.
Oily and rich mouth-feel with a flinty dryness coming through after. Lemons, brine, engine oil, light smoke, cereal notes. Very direct and to the point. Moderately complex but strangely uncomplicated.
Medium length finish. Briney and drying with lemons.
- Cadenheads.de notes:
Bowmore Distillery 2002 12Y/O 57.1% Nose: Vanilla and soft smokiness. Palate: Lemon olive oil; hints of pinot grigio with growing industrial oily notes. Soft peat smoke throughout. Finish: An oily and fruity Bowmore. Quite nutty in the finish but mainly lemon notes and distant dry smoke
- Crisp, peaty nose, with plenty of citrus fruits to keep things fresh. A drop of water opened it up considerably, releasing some ripe summer fruits, vanilla and salty sea air. A touch of engine oil was also present, something I associate more with Caol Ila than Bowmore. Lovely stuff. Straightforward, high-quality traditional islay profile on the palate, again with slightly more peat than I would normally associate with Bowmore. Lingering, smoky finish, with some sweet touches of vanilla and a waft of fresh lime keeping things interesting. High quality dram that doesn't do anything spectacular, but what it does, it does very well.
