Without water, it is too violent and the wine / (Paxarette?) - Aroma bothers me a lot. It's just too dominant and superimposed everything else. With water, however, the thing is an absolute dream and pretty awesome
    • Nose
Plums, sulfur and cowshed; with a bit of burnt rubber; a dark, heavy sweetness lies above the aromas; pickled cherries and an intense wine / (Paxarette?) - Aroma is there; the alcohol is clearly noticeable; over time, the wine aroma disappears a bit and makes room for a dark-fruity sweetness; it becomes really sweet with water and the fruit flavors become clearer.
    • Taste
creamy; at first bitter and spicy; Pepper and oak; the spicy then quickly turns back to sweetness with plums and cherries; again this fierce wine influence; with dark chocolate and raisins; The taste of alcohol is too strong for me; it gets incredibly creamy with water; Now walnuts come with nutmeg, pepper and cloves; The wine aroma is now beautifully integrated into the other flavors and does not seem so obtrusive
    • Finish
medium; now the oak comes through; it gets spicy with a decent portion of pepper; again wine, sulfur and burnt rubber; the palate remains spicy and sweet; at the end the oak says hello again; with water the finish is still medium long and silky soft; the oak still dominates; dark fruits like plums and cherries are added; on the palate, the wine aroma remains clearly

    Totally awesome.
    • Nose
Notes from an online blind tasting:

Lovage, marzipan, milk chocolate, blackberries, dried fruits, apricots, leather, creamy, caramel - vanilla pudding. A hint of liquorice.
    • Taste
Spicy, nutty start. Figs, raisins, creamy, chocolate, a light fruity aroma lies behind it. Cotton candy. Earthy with a dirty touch.
    • Finish
Rather long. Nice and creamy with dark chocolate and a wonderfully set sweetness.

I like the profile of cask 6853 better. The fact that this one is on cask strength can't make up for it. The nose still makes me curious, but the taste is not up to par, especially when adding water.
    • Nose
I was preparing for the fruity nose of cask 6853, but got quite something different: Salty fudge and a sulphur note reminding me of bacon-flavoured crisps. Later also apple juice -apple syrup even- malt and spice.
    • Taste
Salted caramel, still very salty. Spices and a maltiness that I'm not too fond of. Grape and apple. Water releases the sulphur that was wearing off until then, which isn't an improvement. Hey, there's salami in there.
    • Finish
      Salted caramel, apple and cocoa.
