The bottle is beautiful, I think thats all there is to say about that one. At a lower price point the liquid would have been more than acceptable.

    Totally overrated for this price.

  3. Lorion scored this whisky 87 points Expert Senior

Quite delicious and exactly my taste. The whisky is just not very distinctive or outstanding. Most older sherry kegs can at least offer what is offered here. I like it. But it does not stand out. Good - the price stands out. 87 points.
    • Nose
Rosy sherry, slightly sulphurous. Dark chocolate, old, sticky wood. Fallobst and slightly overripe mango. Some time leaves the nose spicier. But much more does not happen.
    • Taste
Fruity and rather dry. Dark chocolate is very dominant here. A few forest berries are behind it. Oak also spices.
    • Finish
      Medium long, dry. Unspectacular.

For me more like a "new style" Macallan. Said to be a 1992 vintage. I expect it's best suited for an American palette (whereas I would prefer the slightly richer Reflexion edition, which is more an "old style").

Fruity, extremely well balanced. Many different aromas appear. Taste is even better than Macallan M. Finish is lovely.

Soft, rich leather. Almost bourbony, with a tinge of dark fruit.

Super dry, very oaky, super-bourbony. This tastes like a (slightly!) more refined Barterhouse or other over-aged Diageo release. I would never have guessed this was a Macallan (or maybe even a scotch).

One of the better Macallan finishes, this one dries out your mouth and just hits you with spice. Perhaps water in the future.

NoseSpanish oak casks deliver wonderful rich notes, elegant and polished. Raisin, dates and figs dominate like a mountain of fruit; sultana and toffee apples add texture and depth. The weight of flavour practically squeezes the juice from the raisins, dark and rich with great viscosity. ginger and cinnamon gently dance around the edges - the ginger slightly dry, the cinnamon soft. dark chocolate is majestic, whilst vanilla sweetness lingers in the background.

PalateHeavy and sumptuous. Like a rich fruit cake with raisin, dates and figs, apples, sultanas, orange; then ginger, nutmeg, cinnamon and hints of clove. Oak notes are like velvet, soft and chic.

FinishSilky smooth, this is a cake to savour with a long and full finish.
