  1. ASWhisky scored this whisky 90 points Connoisseur

with water, the orange comes very nicely into the foreground
and the different flavors are more compact and intense

a very tasty whisky, which is fruity, floral
with well integrated smoke and peat notes

and a very nice for Ardbegverhältnisse decent finish, a tick too pale, he remains in the memory
    yes i'am in heaven
but my ticket was too expensive
    • Nose
tingling citrus fruits, delicate vanilla, camphor, lavender honey,
      early summer strawberries
    • Taste
very fresh and sparkling, the nose continues very nicely

Orange marmalade, yellow fruit sweetness, nutty, tender marzipan, dark chocolate

      I associate an alcohol praline:
dark chocolate, sugar, strong alcohol, orange marzipan
    • Finish
      not long for an Ardbeg

Dark chocolate with candied oranges, light peat smoke, pleasant> licorice, tobacco

    Serge says:

    Ardbeg 1980/2004 ‘Kidalton’
    (57.6%, OB)
I’m glad I could finally taste
this unpeated version. The nose starts
on fresh apples, apple juice. Develops
    on mint, peppermint and citronella.
Excellent. The mouth is sweet but
quite spicy, both peppery and gingery,
with quite some wood. In short, it’s
bold but very elegant and balanced.
    So, Ardbeg doesn’t just mean
    ‘peat’! 90 points

Single dram note, tried at the distillery in the `Now And Then` tasting.
Transferring previous Note (2011.11.30) content into a Tasting Note
    • Nose
Pears, vanilla, tobacco bright, strawberries, cream,
    • Taste
      big woody spicyness, strawberries, licorice,
    • Finish
F: more complex fruit & malt with a hint of smoke

  6. granella2003 scored this whisky 92 points Connoisseur

A legendary Ardbeg, Kildalton was a one-off bottling (1300 bottles released in

2004) of some experimental unpeated and lightly peated whiskies made at the

distillery in 1980. It is known that these experiments ran from 1979-81, but

while a 1981 Kildalton mini appeared in the Ardbeg Peat Pack a few years ago the

1979 vintage has yet to see the light of day. Fingers crossed they haven`t lost

it or used it in any of their other bottlings
