A rich, full-bodied whisky that rather feels it has been bottled at a higher strength than it actually is. I quite like it.
    • Nose
This one is pretty shy and needs a little time to wake up. Some leather, conifer and pine needles. A whiff of resin, followed by apricots, stewed apples and a wee bit of smoke and cigarette tobacco.
    • Taste
A creamy mouthfeel. The palate is sweet and smoky, but slightly dry as well. Plenty of spice, with a fair amount of chili pepper and nutmeg, but there's also some nice and subtle menthol notes. Finally some dried red fruit, as well as cherry syrup.
    • Finish
Drying with a pinch of salt, some smoke, and dried fruits as well.

spicy, dried grass, dried fruit, apricot. Sherry tones are good to smell, bourbon influence is small.
    • Taste
      surprisingly sweet, honey sweet.
    • Finish
      sweetish, little grenadine like notes.

It’s quite a dry and sour whisky, the fino casks have done their job. It has a nice and spicy character and reminds me a little of a Campbelltown malt. The fact that it’s chill filtered, colored with E150a and it only at 43% makes that this dram lacks some depth in the flavor profile. I think that it would perform much better at +46%

All in all a satisfying dram that isn’t complicated.

    • Taste
A rich, spicy and balanced whisky with aromas of grains, malt, muesli, lemon juice, subtle sherry, subtle smoke, pepper, cinnamon, nutmeg, greep apple, apple sauce, pear, melon, sour cherries, dried fruits (figs, plums, cherries), berries (blackberries, elderberries), hint of brine, honey, subtle tannins and oak.
