    Tasted in a tasting with line-up of WB ID's 52097, 62558, 69539, 18211, 66055, in that order.
    • Nose
Fisherman's Friend, licorice. A strong sweet "umphf" as well (sorry, I can't describe it any better…). Strawberries.
    • Taste
Seems like a marriage between bourbon and sherry casks. Sweet and ginger at the roof of the mouth, more tones of red fruit (cherries) around the tongue. Quite punchy despite its 43% ABV, lots of spices (nutmeg, cinnamon). Some salt, and mint as well.
    • Finish
Remains lingering predominantly at the roof of the mouth with the ginger and sweetness. A bit drying; woody.

[April, 2016]  I had this dram during a FoSM club tasting. In my old rating system (ten scales that translate into WB points: 50
    - 66 - 75 - 80 - 82,5 - 85 - 87,5 - 90 - 92,5 - 95) I scored it 82,5.  I
took no detailed notes as this whisky did not interest me.

    Little Bay
Oban is Gaelic for little bay, the name of this NAS-release that first appeared at the end of 2015. It matured on three types of casks (European sherry casks, refill casks with new oak heads and refill American hogsheads) before it was married in small ex bourbon casks of 200 liters.
The nose is sweet and malty with some oranges, apple sauce and a hint of gingerbread, nutmeg and cinnamon. A leaf of mint. The whole is fairly soft and not very outspoken. The maritime character that I appreciate so much on the 14 Year Old is totally absent. This is a very fruity Oban.
The body and spiciness are fine. The fruit returns in full force, joined now by some fresh apricots, as does the mint and cinnamon. I do get a lovely salty edge on the palate.
The finish is rather short on ginger, mint and oranges.
Nice Oban, ideal as entry level malt, but I do prefer the 14 Year Old.

    My tasting notes :

  9. GIORGOS did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

A Herbal and Farmy whisky with notes of smoke and pepper.

  10. Wtrstrnghlt scored this whisky 81 points Expert Senior

Nose: Sweet and Malty. Fruit, Vanilla.

Taste: Gentle arrival. Sweet, with a bit of salt and pepper. Light mouthfeel, a bit watery.

    Finish: short, turns bitter.

Not to bad, but nothing really good.

    Way overpriced though
