Color

Nose

Light medicinal, honey and pepper. It burns a bit in the nose after a few minutes in the glass and it gets more aggressive and promising.

Taste

Sweet start with a shot of pepper after. Peat and smoke. Full body and warm.

Finish

Leaves a very warm feeling in the throat with a hint of smoke and sweetness.

Comments

Bit more complicated than the 10 Y Laphroaig. A very spicy and fantastic whisky for a fair price.

Comments

Interesting Laphroaig. Pronounced maturation influence. Spices are clearly wood derived. Takes little water.

Laphroaig Tasting Notes:

Colour: Full sparkling gold

Color
Jonquiripe corn
Nose

Krokant, Küstenaromen, phenolischer Rauch, etwas grasiges, Bauernhof, Kokosnuss.

Taste

Medizinischer Rauch, scharfe Gewürze wie Chilli. Insgesamt gut ausbalanciert, aber nicht gerade komplex.

Finish

Kurz und rauchig, schnell trocken werdend.

Comments

Man schmeckt sein junges Alter. Für Islay-Einsteiger mit kleinem Geldbeutel gut geeignet.

Most recent shelf bottling. Gold pour. Nose is pleasantly smoke filled, lightly medicinal, banana cream, French flambé dessert. Seems less briny than the shelf 18 and 10, from memory. Mouth is a bit bitter, medicinal, and iodine upfront, then becomes peaty like an Islay scotch toward the middle and finish. That banana cream dessert shines in the finish too. Nice, very drinkable, approachable. It makes me want to investigate young, cask strength Laphroaigs.
