A typical Port Charlotte with a rather light oiliness (texture) that weakens the overall score somewhat. Nonetheless, a fine dram to enjoy at any time of the day...
The colour is deep copper and the texture shows small tears with medium fast legs. The nose offers a bold profile of peaty and malty aromas with some winey flavours to complement this. It is a quite simple recipe but it works, actually.
The taste is rich and mouth-watering on strong barley sugary, peaty and winey flavours in a fine balance - this is Port Charlotte as I like it!
The dram arrives hot and peppery in the mouth with almost no coating effect at all, too bad (usually a PC performs better on this dimension). The finish is of a medium length and even more sweet than the taste but the peatiness keeps that under control.
