Whisky Reviews for Glenglassaugh Revival

- The nose is a problem case. Young and slightly foul. In the mouth but then beautiful oak, sherry, slightly vinous. In the finish long and even cigarillo from the barrels. Needs a few more years.
- The remarkable thing about this whisky is the clear organic influence for me, 'green' or mossy. It's not particular unattractive, but not mindblowing either. Just an enjoyable dram.
SOme sour fruitiness, lemon. Organic, mossy. Also some sweet, caramel. And later on clearly some grape-influence, some wine-like aroma's.
A little pepper, a bit spicy, cinnamon and a hint of chocolate. Some fruits as well, prunes. Again this organic touch, green of plants.
Later on the body gets stronger, and more tobacco comes in.
Only a very slight pepper left, and again this organic thing, floral, green of plants, with a touch of tobacco.
From the moment the body gets stronger, this is translated to a warming feel in the finish, more alcohol influence.

- Official notes from the website:
The Revival is the first expression released from Glenglassaugh
distillery after being mothballed for more than 20 years. The
Glenglassaugh Revival has been matured in a balanced mix of ex-red wine
and fresh bourbon casks, vatted and re-racked for double maturation in
rich sherry casks. Bottled at 46%, non chill filtered and of natural
colour, Revival is a stunning Highland single malt with a coastal charm.
Nose: Sweet caramel and toffee with notes of nutty
sherry, milk chocolate and honey. Ripe plums, red berries and oranges.
Caramelised sugar and earthy, charred oak.
Palate: Sweet, rounded and creamy. Oranges, plums, cherry and walnuts, chocolate, honey-mead, sherry and soft, spiced oak.
Finish: Medium with warming mulled-wine spices, sherry and caramel.
