It's not a big boom, but at such a price it can be taken to the table at your end of party.
    • Nose
Not too deep, slightly alcoholic. Many spices, caramel. Breakfast cereal.
    • Taste
Light, but tasty. Buttered biscuits, toffee, gingerbread, spices.
    • Finish
Not too long. There is also a youthful, immatured feeling.

    A sample from karloff.
Enjoyable blend I have to say.
    • Nose
      82 82
Much fruitier than I've come to expect from a cheap blend.
      Tropical and slightly citric.
Caramel and a little bit of honey.
A bit of alc comes through both as a smell and as a feeling.
      Sweet and actually quite pleasant.
    • Taste
      81 81
      Fruit is there from arrival.
It also has a good amount of spicy warmth from the start.
As it settles I tend to agree that it turns a bit artificial and plastic like. Nothing too bothering though.
Here as well it's got a lot of sweetness.
As a blend I will say this is pretty good.
    • Finish
      77 77
Nothing great to elaborate on, it just fades quite quickly in a very controlled way. Leaves the mouth with a note of generic spice.

This was Churchill's brand of choice but I'm sure it was a lot better back then.
Still for £20 it's perfectly fine to have on an optic and share with a mate as a chaser.
    • Nose
      78 78
      Caramel ,toffee apple, honey.
Can't smell the grain, it is more like an artificial smell.
      Gravy granules and prune juice.
Not much else and didn't expect anything with complexity.
    • Taste
      79 79
The taste is a bit more satisfying but still flawed.
Some fruit notes and some spice on first arrival but still that artificial tinge to it.
      More toffee apple and caramel.
The grains do fight to be heard but bring nothing to the party.
    • Finish
      79 79
One thing I can say about the finish is it doesn't get any worse from the overall initial taste.
So it's short but it stays where it is.

Convenient simple blend. There is caramel and some solvent taste. Primary Whisky of this Blend is in my opinion Old Pulteney. Overall - better than most of the massively advertised cheap blends.

    • Nose
      yellow gold

For me it starts with a good touch of glue. Followed by plastic and an artificial conifer aroma. I'll leave something there…
With a little time in the glass, a sweet pear comes through. Add dry leaves and woody bitterness. I can still tease out some dried apricots.
    • Taste
Soft but bitter start. In addition pepper sharpness and a trace of ginger. Grapefruit and a bitter nut aroma. Some mint and a really woody taste. Green, sour grapes and an artificial taste that is reminiscent of plastic. Unfortunately, I only find the unripe pear in the taste. But more plums.
    • Finish
Rather short. Bitter oak and light fruit sweetness.

A blend with kernel and the taste of honey and wood.

[May, 2005]  I had this dram during a FoSM club tasting.  I bought this bottle for 13 Euro in October, 2004.  It was bottled before 1991 (75cl bottle imported from Italy).

[April, 2008]  Finally I emptied another bottle that I bought for 13 Euro in October, 2004.  It was bottled before 1991 (75cl bottle imported from Italy). In my old rating system (ten scales that translate into WB points: 50 - 66 - 75 - 80 - 82,5 - 85 - 87,5 - 90 - 92,5 - 95) I scored it 82,5 and 80.  My notes state it is okay to drink (I had a lot of single malt that were weaker)...

    • Nose
Quite light, yet rather punchy. Notes of winter spice and black pepper with a touch of caramel.
    • Taste
Fresh and crisp with medium-body. There are notes of buttery biscuit and toffee fudge.
    • Finish
      Pleasant and lasting.
