A wonderfully varied littlemill from a bourbon barrel. Except for the 12-year-old in the yellow tube, all Littlemill have inspired me so far. I really like a refreshing change to the many Littlemills from various sherry and port barrels!

    • Nose
Delicate amber shimmers in the glass, on the glass wall of my Premium Snifter there is an oily streak from which a multitude of small "legs" come loose. Green apples and sweet pears rise, milk chocolate and subtle caramel are extremely timid, the sweet note of sugar increases noticeably. A hint of dark vanilla, mirabelle plums and hints of apricots, nuances of popcorn and shortbread biscuits. I imagine a delicate citrus note in connection with mint, the nose looks extremely mild and harmonious despite over 50%. Dried yellow fruits, milk chocolate and toffee dominate the nose at the moment while slightly grassy and floral elements are announced ...
    • Taste
Dried yellow fruits, sweet caramel with grassy and floral influences pour gently over the tongue, gradually spicy wood tones come into play, minimal sharpness tickles on the tongue, hazelnuts and raisins stick between the lips, a minimal smoky note appears on the palate and on the tongue. Sour citrus fruits appear floral and grassy, dark malt and cereals end in slightly tart wood tones, dried grapes and berries rest on the tongue. The mouthfeel becomes creamier, with hints of hazelnuts blurring taste and aftertaste.
    • Finish
Fresh, oily, slightly woody and malty, with a fine hint of lemon and grated peel of grapefruit. The aftertaste develops an incredible freshness, in the background there are dried fruits and a delicate wood note. Caramelized sugar sticks under the tongue, slowly hazelnuts and old apricots appear again.

Great Littlemill, which perfectly combines the fruity and grassy aromas.

This was special - a beautifully bright, sweet malt.

My only regret is that it was too early in my whisky journey for me to appreciate it fully. Retail price was £90 for a 23yo from a lost distillery - ah, those were the days. Unless of course you remember the even better days that went before.

orchard fruit, pears, and initially a hint of caramel. some milk chocolate as well, next to that typical Littlemill nose. Also some cherries and lychees. Interesting!
