  1. wisekycourse scored this whisky 86 points Connoisseur

the big flaw, the end too monolithic.

  2. lapinbilly scored this whisky 86 points Expert Senior

    lack of complexity
    • Nose
      Nuts and peat, roasted almonds
    • Taste
      spices and peat, dried fruits
    • Finish
      spices and smoke

  3. wisekycourse scored this whisky 86 points Connoisseur

On the nose, a leached Madeira side, scents of mushrooms, burnt dirty tire, then nut oil more than fruits!
    • Nose
a striking floral side then vanilla and lemon mixed, peat comes after !!
return of cold ash and tangerine a little confit, it takes time to reveal itself.
an animal side, old dirty leather is coming!
    • Taste
strong and peppery spices, bitter orange, wood, iodine, then peat rather discreet, rather intense smoke, persistent, then much more.

it's still honest, but it's one of the least convincing Kornog I've ever tasted. Enthusiasm: 3/5 Whisky n ° 1628
    • Nose
Cross on the stairs: the cake with walnuts, almonds and chocolate (in the descent) light peat at Springbank (in the climb) But we can see that the staircase was not built long ago ...
    • Taste
There is relief, it is well spiced. The peat takes him to the side of austerity, as if the barrel of PX deigned to yield its roundness and sweetness.
    • Finish
      Spicy finale

  5. Donwaldorf scored this whisky 82 points Expert Senior

(Blind PWC of 21/10/17) A disappointment, being generally a fan of Kornog usually ... simple mistake of course?
    • Nose
A cheese peat / farmer .... dirty feet / mushrooms.
    • Taste
Aqueous, we clearly feel the reduction, there is always this side cheese / mushrooms .... I could have believed in a bad Ledaig.
    • Finish
An unpleasant finish on the bitterness mainly.

  7. Monsieur Dram scored this whisky 85 points Expert Senior

A somewhat monolithic dram, which revolves around a few aromas. It lacks a bit of complexity and scale, but it is nonetheless interesting. The toasted notes are very nice. Glann Ar Mor is definitely a distillery to follow!
    • Nose
a nose marked by dried fruits: lots of nuts, hazelnut and roasted almonds. Then we go on notes of dark chocolate that would have a little too much burned and coffee, then liquorice, before finding some fruit, the prune in mind. Notes of sulfur are a little too present for my taste. It's pretty monolithic.

    • Finish
Not very intense, with notes of grilled dried fruits.

  8. Tom na Gruagaich scored this whisky 80 points Connoisseur

Kornog Whisky are really first-class peat representatives. They could also come from Scotland. The distillery is doing a lot right here. Despite the youth, a strong and complex malt was created. Unfortunately, PX-Sherry and peat are not quite my case, I get the plastic notes more often. Still a really good whisky.
    • Nose
Nose: sweet peat, campfire, some burnt plastic. A very strong sweetness through the PX-Sherry. He also comes supposedly young. Peach and a hint of anise.
    • Taste
strong peaty, peatier than the nose, still slightly burnt plastic, but a strong fruit sweetness, something like gummy bears, vinous and slightly artificial. In addition a few bitter oak notes in the background.
    • Finish
Peat, clear oak now, dark chocolate, still a little scorched plastic, the whole accompanied by a beautiful sweetness, which does not look artificial anymore. In the end, tobacco and peat.
