This Benromach was bottled 20 years ago. With a certain respect for this long time, I went to the tasting of this rarity. The nose needs some time before the malty sweetness becomes noticeable. From the sharpness in the taste I was a little surprised, the spicy and partly sweet wood flavors were very interesting. The end of the taste and finish are characterized by an intense walnut flavor. All in all a very interesting and delicious single malt from 1978.
    • Nose
Slowly and leisurely, a subtle sweetness unfolds timidly. After a short moment, the malty sweetness becomes more intense and gets a subtle hint of vanilla. Honey is added, a touch of spritigem glue arises. During nosing the Benromach shimmers relatively clear, with a yellowish sting, in the glass. Long streaks stick to the glass wall. A wonderful sight, the subtle adhesive note plays with a slightly fruity sweetness. I fancy a slight hint of licorice.
    • Taste
With the first sip, sharpness comes to the fore. The Benromach still looks clear and fresh in the mouth. Pepper and salt fire the palate. A subtle woody note comes out of the sharpness. Spicy wood with a subtle hint of vanilla and some honey now dominate the taste. Somehow there is again licorice, again sharpness and subtle bitter wood flavors. At the end of the taste creates a voluminous walnut flavor.
    • Finish
With the walnut aroma of taste, the finish begins. Bitter woody aromas and light sweetness wrestle with each other, the bitter woody notes gain the upper hand. The sharpness of the taste is partly reflected in the finish again. Again, this intense walnut flavor. For a long time, the end of this powerful walnut aroma is complete. A subtle sharpness remains on the tongue.

Nose: Sour apple rings from childhood, vanilla, oranges, orange peel, the acid of a lime combined with jasmine tea, orange blossom, honey and mint. The alcohol cools the nose and is not unpleasant. But there is something old or set in the same breath. Subtle set acidic / sweet old oak flavors that remind me of sawdust from a grinder workshop and certainly also for my jasmine tea / orange blossom association is responsible. Overall, an interesting nose that reminds me of other old interesting bottlings. Taste: Very surprising ... buttery approach and just these old flavors that delight me. A certain amount of acidity is initially present, but actually there is immediately following an old but not overly bitter oak with some sweetness that makes me think of Laktrize. The spice is very dominant and the orange blossom, orange peel or lime peel and the jasmine tea notes from the nose are back in abundance. By the set and old aroma of the drop I mean to find an intense nut aroma in the finish. Delicious! Conclusion: An old retro malt. Nothing expected and surprised. That's how it should be!

Very interesting whisky. You can feel the beauty, if you have plenty of time and dig to the deep.
    • Nose
      Antispectic, adhesive plaster, glue, plasticine,
with time comes to the sweet fruits
    • Taste
Sweet start, then salt and pepper, spicy oak.
Finally, an ointment of gum taste, which is not good.
    • Finish
      Medium length, dry

    Motr nothing more
    • Nose
Lighter fuel, plastercine, putty, bluetack , cigar smoke, felt tip pen and a little pear.
    • Taste
Quite sweet at first but there is something sticking to the roof of the palate, like clotted cream, cheap white wine,  and cheap wine gums
    • Finish
Not that long and a little dry.
