Really good nose, unfortunately it throws back the thin mouthfeel and the short finish.

Strong spicy oak flavors - do these come from Mizunara wood? Heath-honey, with sweetness, some blends, some raisins and caramel.
    • Taste

Clearly restrained in the mouth. Gentle and creamy, grain-like sweetness, light tropical fruit, oak tones in the background.
    • Finish

Quite short and thin, the malt disappears quickly from the mouth. Honey, oak, and gone.

    blend with a Japanese wood!
    to look for the difference?
    • Nose
      varied fruits, pronounced spices, caramel!
    • Taste
the woody (undifferentiated) is present, after, it's a real blend with little negative things, but few singularities, spices, a little sweet smoke, almost liquorice in fact, varied fruits!
    • Finish
      quite short, fades quickly anyway!

N- Sweet sandal wood with tobacco. Grassy with whiff of unoffensive gun powder and sulphur drift thru, some rum and raisin. Get grassier and leafy at tail. Rounded and creamy with citrus zest. (85/19)

P- The rather 'damaging' and elementary sugary sweetness that carries on throughout the palate dented the otherwise quite a nice compote of boiled pear, cooked mashed cereals, sweet spices, ginger and subtle sweet oak phenol. (83/18)

F- Short-medium, smooth with peppery coat, tannic and feeling the wee stickiness from all the evilly "sugar" that comes with it. (84/18)

On the nose, pungent alcoholic note which is a minus point, given that it's only 40%. Need to let it sit awhile before you can access the nose profile. Sweetness on the nose, and typical profile from Chivas. Good palate and doesn't need water, fresh fruit, sweet but not too thick. Long aftertaste and keep going. Definitely a step up from normal Chives 12.

Caramel mostly on the nose with a little licorice to enhance all this. In the mouth, caramel, creamy, obviously, but I do not perceive the influence of Japanese oak. It remains a blend to 40%, difficult to put the aromas in the spotlight.
    Enthusiasm 2/5

Really a horny nose, which would raise the whiskey to the 90 points. But then? Unfortunately there is nothing more in the taste. A pity. Clear a blend and he is also incredibly soft. But the nose just has to get around. One should not have thinned down so softly.
    • Nose
Immediately, a fruity sweetness is spreading. Go in the direction of mango, melon, apple. Reminds me somehow of these sour apple rings of Trolli, just not so artificial. Add vanilla. And I also have a slightly musty smell, which I put on the barrel. But it is not bad at all and goes well with the barrel. In any case, a great nose, which is varied and, depending on the intensity of the smell, also emphasizes other nuances. Finally, marshmallow notes come up.
    • Taste
Very mild. Do I even have that in my mouth? But almost no aroma on the tongue. Some honey and a bit of melon and mango. Very light and the vanilla. But that's it.
    • Finish
Short. Here, too, only the honey and a little spice remains. A little apple and vanilla.
