Whisky Reviews for Bruichladdich 2002

  1. Drk Neknul scored this whisky 84 points Expert Senior

It remains, even after the addition of water, a tend tended rather sharp profile that seems different, namely much alcoholic, as is the case with the "Harvest Home" Valinch, which indeed has a certain sharpness, but by their nature rather Similar to the much-praised 'chilli-catch' at Talisker, the malt basically does not show any other weaknesses, but one is sometimes too much, because there are many good bourbon barrels from Laddie, and there are sure to be some in the future ,
    • Nose
Huge honey sweetness and a little vanilla are spreading in the nose. In the background, then very soft shortbread and some fruit - are the mirabelle and peaches? Probably the best. The malt is, however, already in the nose with caution to enjoy. The alcoholic sharpness is so intense that it can easily spoil the fun of relaxing nosing when you get too close to the malt.
    • Taste
The alcohol mercilessly puts its stamp on the Laddie when tasting in cask strength and burns noticeably on the lips and tongue. On the one hand, this is of course legitimate at 63.4% ABV, but on the other hand there are also numerous ladies, in particular representatives of the strong, respectively super-strong peated PC and Octomore variants, who can pre-excercise, as it can in other ways - namely more harmonious - go I open the flavors with a few drops of water, which the malt immediately, and consistently positive, acknowledged in the taste profile.A few more droplets of water, we have meanwhile reached rough on high drinking strength. The honey sweetness from the nose Our butter biscuit is also back, whereby the pastry note reminds me more and more of a fresh, juicy gugelhupf - not bad at all, if only the alcoholic top were not.
    • Finish
Medium long, very warm finish. Quite spicy and a bit herbal. White pepper, laurel, maybe a hint of cinnamon, light fruit notes, gooseberries, a little bit of bitterness from the wood.
