Color: dark mahogany, fatty oily legs.
Nose: The sherry immediately comes to the fore, dark red fruits and a lot of it, hammer (sic!) - roasting aromas, grilled dates (someone knows the dates in a bacon coat for grilling?) With a slight smoke association, the alcohol is very harmoniously involved, one of the best Glengoyne noses (and quite a nose in comparison to other distilleries) that I have ever had.
Mouth: Fat oily onset, here too grilled dates dominant, the heavy red fruits occupy the tongue and palate, roasted aromas, a slight Schwevel- / Schwarzpulverassoziations (hence the smoke in the nose?) Horny.
Finish: Long, on red fruits, the dates and with harmoniously integrated alcohol.
With water: even sweeter, more pleasing, more fruity.
Conclusion: Great cinema for a 15yo Glengoyne, in this age range probably the best Glengoyne, which I had so far in the glass.
