With more than 66% ABV, this is a sturdy bloke. On the nose, it's rather smooth and rounded. Yet on the palate and the finish, it shows it's character: spicy from the grain and rye, and from the wood. The wood influence is very big, but just within my boundaries. Though, less would have been a little bit more for me.
Wow, this is powerful. Spicy & woody is my first impression: vanilla and sawdust from the oak, and the spices are juniper and cinnamon. Then, there is furniture polish, car wax, grain, honey, tinned peach and apricot. With a splash of water it get's more rounded and friendly, with cinnamon and banana as extra sensations.
Neat, this is very powerful and drying. It's not bad, especially the grainy juniper / car wax are dominant. Yet the wood speaks too loud with tannins and pepper. With water, it's better, yet the oak influence is quite big, with clove, nutmeg, pepper, vanilla and bay leaf. The fruity and honey tones get suppressed and are hardly present.
It's rather long and obviously very spicy. This comes both from the grain (juniper) and the wood (pepper, nutmeg, clove). Then, there is a little bit of vanilla, car wax, and honey.
