Nose: slight note of glue, vanilla, tart oak spiciness with delicate tart notes, butter, toffee, caramel, apples, all very clean and clear Taste: without water gentle alcohol, no burning, strong fresh pleasant oak, sweet and sour, oily mouth feeling increasingly dry, then spreads vanilla, warm spicy intense, concentrated, white pepper, finish is long and complex Conclusion: delicious - just after 16 years from the fresh barrel brought and not dirty, no color, no water, no filters ..

The smell is almost archetypal for a firstfill bourbon ripening and miraculously shows that no sherry casks are needed for intense aromas. This impression continues in the mouth and finish, supplemented by strong oak. A wonderful whisky, which shows what is possible even without Weinreifung. I love him for that. The whisky is good for a few drops of water.
    • Nose
green and yellow apple, lots of vanilla, sweet and sour, lemon, cut grass, white wine cream, lemon ice cream
    • Taste
Sharp start, the alcohol is noticeable, the notes from the nose are repeated, sweet and sour fruit and vanilla, but now comes neat spicy oak
    • Finish
In the finish, the oak becomes even more powerful, the sweet fruits have to give way to the soft, only a light acid can prevail against the oak and mix with the bitter bitter notes from the wood.

Compared to the 0814D, this one might be a little less fresh because I detect no green fruits. Quite as good, though.
    • Nose
Banana, just like the 0814D, then strong vanilla and butterscotch. Bourbon maturation if ever there was one. Honey, hay, some mint, hints of ripe red fruit and cinnamon
    • Taste
Honey-dipped banana, vanilla, butterscotch, red fruit and some spiciness.
    • Finish
Medium long and somewhat drying. The banana, pineapple, melon and other yellow fruit slowly die on your tongue, hints of red fruit and cinnamon die along with it. Some maltiness comes up and faints. Eventually the vanilla comes peeking and slowly distance itself again. Brilliant!

Very tasty malt that needs a lot of air and can handle some water.
At the time of the notes, the bottle had been open for 3/4 year.

Despite the barrel strength, a very mild nose. Hardly any alcohol and not rough at all. First of all, a lot of apple and some pear on the nose. But the whole thing turns into a lot of yellow fruit. From apricots to grapefruit. Especially the citrus-heavy fruits crystallize out. Especially the grapefruit. The whole thing is underlined by blossom honey and in the further course really nice wood notes come to light. Like fresh sawdust and old wood flour. Never woody or bitter. It was probably the perfect time to be bottled.
With water it becomes a little alcoholic and the fruit becomes a little weaker in favor of the wood notes

Strong start. Even with water. There is an alcoholic note here and I can also feel hints of glue.
In the mouth, the wood notes dominate and push the fruit back a little. But that leaves space for strong vanilla and light grain notes, which I missed in the nose. Otherwise an extremely creamy and pleasant texture on the tongue.
The grapefruit is the most popular. Go ahead and think this comes from the Glenlivet "house style".
    • Finish
      88 88
The finish is not too long, but carries nicely the notes from the mouth and nose with it. The light wood notes caress the palate and make you want the next sip!

  7. PuddingmitHaut did not rate this whisky Expert Senior

Exciting, but also a bit of a shame that the fruits continue to subside from nose to finish. Thanks to the beautiful vanilla + oak it is still very tasty, the nose here the winner.
    • Nose
Immediately beautifully fresh and very fruity with a fine acidity, light, sugared canned fruits, peach, pineapple, apricot, mandarin. Behind it a fine spiciness with a hint of herbal tea. Vanilla, maybe a little coconut too.
    • Taste
First sweet with more vanilla in play, then the spice comes with pleasant oak notes, the vanilla comes with a little pepper, but the oak then prevails.
    • Finish
from the back it comes out more bitter and lingers so long.
