Colour: Sun on ripening barley fields
Flavour: Spicy & sweet
The fresh, feisty nose floated grassy, floral, perfumed notes (summer greenhouses) over foundations of wood (sawdust, pine furniture, oak floorboards) – all knitted together with vanilla, lemon puff and honey sweetness. The palate sported youthful intensity but with poise and balance – sweet heat dominated (juicy sultanas in a curry, peppered strawberries, aniseed balls, etc.) but we also found iced gems, marshmallows and white chocolate; violets, grapes and lemons. Water developed the fruity, floral aspects of the nose – lavender and tutti-frutti ice-cream. The palate’s bright, fruity balloons (sherbet, watermelon, kiwi, limoncello) were tied to the earth with strings of cereal and intriguing spice.
Drinking tip: A bright, aperitif style dram for a summer’s day in the garden or the park
