An older version produced in 2005 got 88 pts. on whiskyfun.com. Serge is quite sure about this (2005) bottling being an undisclosed Lagavulin.
The bottle in my collection has been produced in 2008 and I agree that also this later bottling could well be a Lagavulin, too. I do find ashy notes in it that appear familiar with regards to those that I find in the standard bottlings (16yo, 12yo Cask Strength). You never can be sure, but quite sure, at least.

Good Islay malt. No 'wow factor' but just tasty and good to drink. Light smoke and peat, nice sweetness. Medium long finish. Always have a bottle of it.

  4. Bosi scored this whisky 69 points Specialist

It is probably a very young whisky. The smoke covers almost all other flavors. Consequently, the whisky is unbalanced with metallic sharpness. After adding water, however, it receives a certain complexity, which keeps the whisky from total failure.
    • Nose
In addition to the expected smoke notes of garbage, salt and nail polish remover to the fore. After adding water I also smell ripe fruits.
    • Taste
Finlaggan Old Reserve tastes slightly metallic with a pronounced pepper note. Here too, after the addition of water, fruit notes such as orange appear.
    • Finish
The finish is very dry and volatile. However, the smoke stays long.
