- Quite a complex, beautiful Speysider
full of juicy and fruity flavors and exactly the right amount of
wood-spice. The only "weakness“: It's not a very memorable and
singular whisky. But it's very good value!
A bit austere and grassy in the
beginning. But be patient! This malt whisky is getting better by the
minute. A few minutes later soft spices begin to unfold: curry
powder, turmeric, some cumin, white pepper and a laurel leaf. Behind
that a whole fruit basket: dried apricots, slightly sour apples, ripe
bananas and rum raisins. In the background there is a fair amount of
creamy vanilla and a touch of rosewater/marzipan as well as soft,
silky and delicately "salty" green tea. Give it ten minutes in the glass and this is
developing into a fantastic, delicately aromatic nose of a well matured
Very soft, almost shy attack on the
tongue. The mouthfeel soon becomes fuller. Beautiful sweet and sour
flavors of pear cobbler with vanilla ice cream, apple compote, honey
and a subtle nuttiness. Almond butter? The spices I felt in the nose
are not as prominent on the palate, but have developed into pleasant,
juicy tea flavors.
The Finish is medium long and quite subtle. On the tongue you get an interesting fruity pungency like
from mild chillies. Bell pepper sauce with honey? Sounds crazy, but
is very pleasant and satisfying.
- Well, it's an Ultimate so you can expect quality! Well matured, powerful and interesting. Recommended! And tell me where do you still find a whisky of 25 years old for under one hundred euros today?
A fresh, sweet and well-balanced whisky with notes of coffee, apple, banana, citrus, pears, nectarine, pineapple, apple syrup, hint of molasses, a hint of smoke, tarte tatin, soft oak, pear candies, caramel and vanilla.

A long, full and rich aftertaste with notes of honey, fruit and spices.
- Keep your mouth closed for about 5 seconds after you swallow, you will get a tingling sensation in your cheek and keep them hanging longer.

Nose: Fruity and at the same time malty. With aromas of pineapple, mango and peaches. Very light and round. Behind it creamy aromas, maybe toffee and cream caramel, also some vanilla. After some time in the glass, a green, plant-like aroma is added, reminiscent of rhubarb and gradually turns into woody spice.
Palate: pineapple and mango, slightly unripe banana, margarine and gooseberries. Very fruity and also very creamy, then becomes more intense and spicy. Cinnamon and pepper are added, cayenne pepper on the right beautiful onion.
Departure: Long though restrained. Oak wood, pepper and creamy fruit flavors unite and stay a long time behind. At the very end, the oak appears slightly bitter and with a tingling sharpness
Conclusion: Fruity whisky with a spicy soul.
