    • Nose
Melon, kiwi. Honey, geranium. More and more citrus. Anise. Hay. 1min later, light prunes. Still a light nosing, no peat. People probably mistreat hay as peat. Lemon after a sip. Overall medium to light strength.
    • Taste
Pretty rich to start. Yellow fruits + citrus sourness and kiwi. Sweetness dropped after 5s with more peel and tea taste. The whisky tasted a bit thin, and not much change on the palate.
    • Finish
Some pear with peel sweetness, longan, then honey + green tea bitter, finally vanilla sweetness and cinnamon

Located at the foothills of the Japanese Alps, Suntory’s second distillery has always stood in the shadow of Yamazaki. Not surprisingly, Hakushu 18 attempts to be a bit like his famous brother. Notes of sherry subdue floral freshness and whiffs of smoke, and the nose unfolds beautifully with unripe papaya, incense and a touch of plum wine. Rich and intense, the taste combines fruity, herbal and spicy flavors with just a hint of peat. Lingering spices, licorice and re-emerging freshness characterize the semidry finish. A worthy silver medal for a fine dram!

This dram is just delicious, extremly smooth and soft.
Very well balanced deep and complex flavors.
It has kind of an unique and refreshing flavor and taste like a "green nature experience" :-) But still keeps the typically Hakushu/ Japan character, outstanding :-)

Not overly complex, but he brings what he brings on a high level. The nose I think is wonderful, reminds me of the football field of my youth. I may have been influenced by my decision, but not only for me was the best of the tasted Japanese (besides Hakushu 18 also Hibiki 17 and Yamazaki 18)
    • Nose
      88 88
soft smoke, freshly mown meadow, floral notes, fresh "light" fruits
    • Taste
      87 87
peppery-sweet, warm peat fire, peach, pineapple, slightly musty
    • Finish
      88 88
long and warm, the exotic fruits remain, the freshly cut grass returns in the background

I liked it a lot, there seems to be a good corner above average, good batch vllt?
    • Nose
Great thing, you notice the typical Japanese grassy, soft, slightly wet meadows, a bit of coast and salt, but also clearly sherry influence with red apple and some perfumed in the nose, berry bushes in the grass and fresh raspberries, toffee
    • Taste
Class of the mixture, wild berries, orange oil, full of red apple with shell, very deep, cinnamon, pebbles, the grassy is of course still one of the main notes, honey, toffee and vanilla, some coastal air here
    • Finish
Pretty long, the grassy remains, dry with the apple peel, light salt, a few tannins and cinnamon

The Hakushu 18 tastes like the grass from the lawnmower. Even worse is the 12er. Only the 25er is good, but with over 1500 no bargain. Afterwards, I gave away the last 18er, which I opened up, half-full. Shall drink, who wants, I do not do that to me. On Neudeutsch: You drink that, I support you, I find good. You drink, not me! Schmekke like salad of wet grass.

    Amber gold. Medium legs.
First whiffs of gentle earthy peat. Fresh apples. Barley sugar. Faint bonfire smoke.
Ok mouthfeel. Bit on the watery side. Earthy taste with some bitter bite. Getting vanilla and a lot of cinnamon and nutmeg. Nice subtle different whisky.
    Quite dry finish.
