Whisky Reviews for Springbank 15-year-old
16 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 88.96 points
rich and juicy orange, milk chocolate, fresh applesauce, cinnamon, a little bit of menthol, lime, resin, birch bark ... was far from being that spectacular in the nose (but the TWE Blenders glass certainly contributes to that)
sweet and round, strong woody aromas, fruit salad and lots of orange, the menthol also reappears
drier than expected, now the sherry portion is more noticeable, in the throat it warms only for a maximum of medium, but the taste remains eternal
- Gentle and nice dram.
Plenty of smoke from embers turned off for a while.
Color: white wine / straw yellow
Nose: Sparkling spiciness with a lot of salt and yellow to light green fruits: pears, fresh limes, lemon juice, gooseberries, vanilla and honey. But also aromas of beeswax and wet newsprint.
Taste: Thin mouthfeel, but with powerful spiciness. Lots of salt, soft lemon juice, lime, leather, lots of vanilla, honey and some herbaceous herbs (stinging nettles) and dry wood.
Finish: Medium long - still salty salty. The dry tart is omnipresent and sticks to the palate. In places dull, but also fresh at the same time. Towards the end with notes of white chocolate.
Note: Since we were allowed to test other bottlings of this, it should be mentioned that this is one of the weaker ones!
89 points (nose: 89 / taste: 90 / finish: 89)
there are some differences between the green thistle bottles ... the one from 1994 was scored by us with 92P!
- Just opened a bottle - a very light golden version with the bottle code:
Lets see, how it develops - the first tasting was a little closed experience ...
But after two days of breathing the profile of the smell of the bottle has already changed some to the better!
... and after a while --- not really very good ...
