5 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 84.07 points

  1. Rosebank88 scored this whisky 83 points Expert Senior

    • Nose
A fresh mix of salt and citrus. Behind it fresh yeast dough and sooty and syrupy heaviness. With water: maritime, Aufter Eight, greasy drip note, yeast dough.
    • Taste
Soft and medium heavy, with salt, beautiful maltiness, nutshells, herbal notes and a sooty sweetness. With water: sparkling saltiness, herbaceous, as well as surprisingly smoky and sooty. Later also orange and passion fruit.
    • Finish
Long, hearty malt, freshly peated peat and salted nuts.

Aroma : minerality, algae, plastic, varnish, peat, soybean bar, lollipops, grass, a little flower honey. Taste sweet, alcohol content: herbal bitterness, honey, apples, hot spices, bread, home-brewed beer, a little peat, nyumeyk with poorly cut off heads and tails. The aftertaste is rough: astringent oak, bitterness, fruit sweetness, notes of braga. Conclusion . The aroma is not bad, but it's worse. It's good that the fortress is 50%. If it were less, it would be completely boring. Whisky looks younger than his years. Sweet and spirituous. You expect another from the Old Malt Cask series. Score 81 (n22t20f20b19).

Actually, I'm the Bunna + Sherry guy, but still (or perhaps because of that) I find this untypical Bunnahabhain pretty good. Not the epitome of complexity, yet harmonious and pleasing in itself.
    • Nose
For the first time in a long, long time a Bunna, who had nothing to do with Sherry. Accordingly, he unfurls. Juicy, with lots of green fruit, pear, apple, all very ripe and sweetish, with some immature peach in the background, a syrupy sweetness hovers over everything, hints of wood and malt in the shades, smoke is almost imperceptible, with some time In the glass, the malt comes a little to the fore, harmonizes beautifully with the sweetness and the slightly sour flavors of green apple, some citrus floats above everything
    • Taste
What you smell is what you get. Here, too, distinct aromas of green fruits, but in combination with a very distinct sweet-malty aroma, now finally the first clear reference to Islay .... Sea salt, changes nicely with the sweetish aromas A little bit as if someone had sprinkled over a piece of apple pie a decent pinch of sea salt, also in the taste accompanied by a hint of wood, smoke and citrus
    • Finish
Long finish, with a really nice mix of salty and sweet
