    Colour:
    Copper / rust red
    Nose:
Old sherry, blood orange, leather, some tobacco and a tingling salty spice. Then honey, fresh tarragon sprigs, some wood and malty grain aromas in a harmonious and pleasant combination.
    Taste:
Strongly creamy and infinitely spicy! Spicy with lots of salt, chili, pepper, then wood and furniture polish. The journey continues with slightly overripe oranges, lots of sherry, sweet, honey-laden parts and immediately afterwards again herbaceous and tart with liquorice and tea - this taste lives from its inharmonious but delicious controversies!
    Finish:
Very long - spicy, woody, a sherry- and tea-laden whisky. Tart notes of wood, mocha, cocoa, espresso, but also sweet honey, vanilla, orange biscuits, sweet malt and some smoke; and here too - full of contrasts, but at a very good level for 8 years of barrel aging.

Great nose, but the rest is average. From a flat, rectangular mini 100 proof.
    • Nose
Complex sherry, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, dried fruits like prunes and dark raisins, this is really good!
    • Taste
A bit dry. There's caramel and root beer. Also new leather. Wow, it's strong, but not as complex as the nose. Despite the dark color and pretty damn great nose, the mouthfeel is actually a tad thin, which may be due to the relatively young age. With water, not much development, but it's swims well.
    • Finish
      Peppery and spicy.

[August, 2008]  Together with friends I emptied a bottle that I bought for 41 Euro in November, 2004.In my old rating system (ten scales that translate into WB points: 50 - 66 - 75 - 80 - 82,5 - 85 - 87,5 - 90 - 92,5 - 95) I scored it 87,5.  My notes state a little punchy start (due to the high abv) but then a nice old style Strathisla profile that is easy sippable.  Certainly a good swimmer...
