    • Nose
Hay notes evoking the Lowlands. Pretty austere. Herbal notes more and more present. Really original for a Glenmorangie
    • Taste
Spicy, the sherry is not very noticeable, it only rounds off the whole thing.
    • Finish
      Spicy with notes of coffee.

      Enthusiasm 3/5

This Glenmorangie is aged in white oak barrels and gets its finish in amontillado butts.
It is lightly peated (unusual for Glenmorangie) and has flavors of slightly smoky, sweet apples and dried fruits. A nice nuttiness and a lot of toffe complement the typical Glenmorangie floral, vanilla and citrus notes
    • Nose
Fruit and sweetness are in balance - orange, peach, mirabelle plum, plus nutty sweetness, nougat, marzipan, pleasant, mild, none of it excessive.
    • Taste
Except for citrus bitterness, the fruit is missing here, but all the more sweetness, caramel, nougat, malt.
    • Finish
      Medium length, dark chocolate, lime

I've had worse nas whiskies, this one is fresh, due to the bourbon aging, and has a bit of dry fruit due to the sherry finish.. both nicely balanced... the finish is not overpowering... actually the bourbon is overpowering.. I like that
    • Nose
The nose is clearly bourbon, apples, flowers, yellow fruit, banana
    • Taste
Soft.. very soft.. in my opinion it should have been at 46 or 48%.. but also here the bourbon is predominant.. probably the ammontilado barrels are refill, because I taste something but not much
    • Finish
Medium, a bit spicy from the wood but nothing special

On the package, a huge story about the inspiration of Dr. L. by the coastline. Does a good whisky need that? And JM gives a whopping 94 points.
    • Nose
Nutty, that's the first impression. Citrus the second. Apples. And then there is some mint and tangy malt. The beginning is good.
    • Taste
Floral, slight bitterness, but not entirely convincing.
    • Finish
Honey, still floral, liquorice, slightly like vinegar. Medium-long finish. Where is the promised incense here? Light smoke is often equated with dark honey. And where is the finishing with the sherry barrel? The vinegar taste? But the drop is not completely bad; And after all, by purchasing the bottle according to the packaging, we saved the coast for future generations. That’s something, and that's why JM distributed his 94 points.

Nose – In the forefront is the bourbon casks, lovely vanilla, sweet, malty and with tones of new wood/resin. Maybe some fresh green apples, citrus notes and spice/herbs too.

Taste – This one is weak in the taste, feels almost watery (might be the low alcohol), then tones of apples, honey and citrus. After some time, caramel, cane sugar and ginger (and other spices) emerge.

There is no subtle peat in here at all, as promised by Glenmorangie’s marketing team.

This is not a special whisky now, mild, fairly simple, something that I would offer to guests who can do nothing else with whisky that does not hurt anyone
    • Nose
A relatively straightforward ex-bourbon nose, sweet, vanilla, malty, a little coconut, a little mint, relatively mild and pleasing, red apple, and also green apple with some acidity, very light oak influence, which brings some spice
    • Taste
somewhat watery, creamy, sweet, thin, apple, vanilla, the sweetness dominates, now also slight acidity from the apple, minimally bitter, pleasant, but nothing more
on the second sip it has a little more substance, but not really very much, now a little coconut
    • Finish
a little salt, still quite sweet, honey, now a little oak, tart, the mouthfeel becomes drier, medium-long, I find the finish best
