SMWS CH Summer 2001 list:
A spring day
The name of this distillery means "green valley" in Gaelic, which describes the location nicely. The brand is considered "first class" for blends and is unusual as a single. This copy of a refilled barrel has a pale golden color. The nose has something very slightly medicinal (disinfectant soap), with pleasantly fresh traces of canning vinegar, boat paint and mint. Water brings out a touch reminiscent of the upholstery of historic cars-leather and decaying rubber-along with gypsum and a fragrant bracken scent. The taste is initially sweet, but with a dry finish. Thick on the tongue with a pleasant plume of smoke. It leaves a clean, dry feeling in the mouth. Fresh as a spring day.
