Whisky Reviews for Edelbrände Senft 2010

I like the nose very much with its diverse wood aromas. On the palate, it is a bit too thin and bitter at the same time, although this improves with longer standing.
    • Nose
      83 83
Pleasantly crusty toasted toast. Light vinous notes, at least at the beginning. Including a rather fleeting, neutral fire that looks quite “rounded”, but without emanating any depth of age. I find a wide variety of wood-spicy and mashy aromas: sweetish-earthy sandalwood, fennel and liquorice, slightly sour beer pomace, canned corn. In places it is reminiscent of Rye. In terms of fruit, he goes in the direction of plum wine, maybe a few more gummy bears. Heather. Grape seeds. There is no trace of alcohol in the nose.
    • Taste

A somewhat watery start. Then directly loaded with tanning, the wood comes across here quite harshly in contrast to the nose. Herbal and spicy, then towards roasted coffee. Not a very full mouthfeel. After a longer standstill, it then appears softer and I almost find a few dusty-old-school echoes of sherry casks. Unexpectedly!
    • Finish
      80 80
Quite bitter and thin at the beginning. Tartaric acid, which I don't like that much. Artificial sweetness, a little Hubba Bubba (like I've had it with Corn or Rye sometimes). Little body and gone very quickly. The bitterness decreases with longer standing.

Very nice, nothing exciting and complex.
    • Nose
Some glue followed by a stinging alcohol note. Let's warm it up a bit. He needs warmth, now much warmer. He smells something like dominoes and vanilla becomes clearer.
    • Taste
He tingles on the tongue, but especially a lot does not come. In a nutshell, you might think that sherry barrels were also there. Some raisins are only there for a short time.
    • Finish
Warming, he runs out of his mouth. Slightly spicy, but otherwise very weak.

Mustard Whisky 2009-2013, 3 years, original bottling, 42% alc.
    Distillery: Edelbrände Senft
    Finishing: American white oak
Region: Baden-Württemberg, Germany ... Nose: Short fruit flavors, which are bound in vanilla and some honey. Apples, bananas and some milk chocolate. In addition herbs act, but overall the whisky leaves a sweet impression. Palate: Malt, very strong malt note, a slight alcoholic sharpness (the youth), but still a silky mouthfeel. Heath flavors, forest honey, vanilla. Less fruit than in the nose, the malt characterizes the palate. Finish: Medium to long, but then occupy the tongue for half an eternity. Again with the aromas of the palate. Conclusion: Young and fresh, as you can tell. Again, a whisky with potential, only older he would have to. 81/100 points (tasted 2015)
Thanks to the distillery Senft for the rehearsal!
