Sofar I have been pretty impressed with Cadenhead's Small Batch series. Tonight I tasted the Strathclyde Single Grain in a line up of 9 Single Grains over age 21.

Have to admit I was not impressed by this one. Too flat. Not much special going on. A much youger version (Strathclyde 2005, 8 year old by Berry Bros WB 73205) held much more promise and taste.

  2. Bishlouk scored this whisky 87 points Connoisseur

Nose: Sweet, vanilla, bourboneux. Stains of varnish. Palate: It is also very bourbon, dominated by vanilla. I have a hard time clearly defining the flavors, but it's undoubtedly a grain whiskey, it can not hide its origins. The palate is soft, sweet, sweet, melted. Finale: Vanilla wood covered with wax. Verdict: Alcohol well balanced, very sweet, syrupy, and very good. I enjoyed it very much.
