Nose: The aromas unique to adbeg and the aroma of fresh fruit are very harmonious and rich

Taste: The deep smoke unique to adbeg starts pleasantly, followed by nuts and fruits of deep sherry cask, with a lively overall structure, different first and end flavors, very stable and long finishes, myriad layers and changeableness

A little bit of it, and the rich flavor explodes like crazy

This Ardbeg lies comfortably in the glass and takes its time. I treat him to them and enjoy the aromas that unfold. Heavy sweetness, leather, raisins, dark dried fruit, caramel, tobacco, black tea, bitter almond, brown cane sugar, bourbon vanilla, wood. The alcohol is wonderfully integrated. After a while, citrus aromas and a little lovage are added. Infinitely complex and space-filling.

The aromas are repeated in the mouth, with more sweetness. Very long, soft finish, accompanied by a light, pleasant bitterness.

    A masterpiece!

Quite balanced but not too sweet, the creaminess is flabbergasting, one of the more serious Ardbegs - great!
    • Nose
Ardbeg-like peat and smoke, bonfire, smoked cigars, hints of tar, iodine, sea breeze, whiffs of old books - really not bad
    • Taste
Extremely creamy and mellow, little punchy, bonfire, rather dry peat and smoke, diesel oil, tobacco, salty, hints of sea weed, subtle sweetness, some dried fruits, plums, figs, dates, dark chocolate - very good
    • Finish
Long, warm, more woody notes coming out

Impressions during the Mara Tasting on 20.03.2010: Dark amber, very oily, pearls stick to the glass, in smell all sorts of spices and some smoke, medicinal, wonderful, full in the taste, very fruity, reminiscent of candied fruits, on the finish strong and long-lasting. Color / impression 19 points Body 19 points Smell 19 points Taste 19 points Finish 19 points Overall impression 95 points

http://kaypingers-whiskyblog.de/frontend/fullarticle.php?id=263 Color: Copper / Amontillado Nose: oranges, wax, wood, leather - kept quite dry. Add tobacco leaves, balsamic and herbs. Taste: orange-honey and peppermint wood! That shapes the first seconds of taste. Then dull leather, coal, peaty broth - refreshed with peppermint and eucalyptus. Tart wood, some dark chocolate and dried nettle leaves. Finish: Long - peaty, fresh, with a pulsating salty body. Dried herbs, liquorice and wood - becoming bitter and dry. 90 points (Nose: 91 / Taste: 90 / Finish: 89)

[December, 2003]  I found this dram in an advent calendar sampled by MaRa.

    In my old rating system (ten scales that translate into WB points: 50 - 66 - 75 - 80 - 82,5 - 85 - 87,5 - 90 - 92,5 - 95) I scored it 92,5.  Unfortunately I did not take any notes.

Odor: heavy oily smell of spices, nutmeg, gingerbread, marcipan, oak, wood, chocolate, raisins, a hint of pipe tobacco

Taste: first an explosion on the tongue, but can not shock the Ardbegliebhaber. then comes a taste experience of a special kind: Super sweet, black chocolate, oily heavy material that caresses the tongue.

Finish: only now the typical smoke cinnamon Christmas chocolate

Verdict: very dark, oily, velvety whisky, which could be a touch sweeter, yet almost perfect
