Meh, not that great actually. Not too bad either. Old and venerable maybe, but too thin and too much wood. Maybe it should have been bottled earlier. Full review (in German): https://keinehalbendrinks.de/2020/01/06/weihnachtstasting-im-turm/

juicy, colorful, measured, giving the impression of whisky, with excellent balance and depth. The finish is almost endless. Of course - this malt from the big leagues!
    • Nose
The aroma has a rich bouquet of berry and malt shades, echoes of leather, varnished parquet and old furniture are also pronounced. In the background I feel cocoa, cigar and custard. Super!
    • Taste
The taste is dominated by oak tones, as well as malt, citrus and pepper notes.
    • Finish
Bright, deep, extremely long, pleasantly warming, with distinct but unobtrusive oak tones at the beginning. Then the nuances of fresh pastries, honey and berry acidity come to light. At the end, a creamy note, spices and cigar flavor appear.

N- Old dried fruit jar, wooden malt bin, musty barrel fragrant with sourish dried charred citrus peel. Burst of orange, berries custard, liquorice and whiff of books. Oldie with gentle seasonal leather and nutty notes. (93/23)

P- Oak driven for bitter mouthfeel, relatively clean and light liquid that been aged gracefully, albeit leaning towards the woody side. Strawberry hacks candy. (87/21)

F- Medium, crisp and cooling. Oak bitterness linger with orange peel. Oak prevails and taken it's toll on the distillate. (87/21)

B/B- 88/22. Well done on the aroma, evolving with old nuance. But one dimensional on palate and finish.

    WW:- Cereal: 3 / Fruity: 3 / Floral: 0 / Peaty: 0 / Feinty: 1 / Sulphury: 0 / Woody: 5 / Winery: 1

Weighted Rate- 88pt, +1 for an old malt.
