  1. diamond2000 scored this whisky 87 points Expert Junior

Aroma: open, sweet-ginger, cookies, caramel, candied ginger, vanilla, honey. Over time, a light sherry component begins to appear - dried apples, pears, raisins; mineral shades, stone chips, whetstone, even more sweetness, canned pineapple, sweet pear, all mixed with sweet vanilla dough.

Taste: delicate, caramel, honey, ginger, raisins, prunes, a little wood, and subtle phenolicity, like a meat barbecue, mineral.

Finish: moderately sweet, raisins, prunes, ash, mineral shades, slightly tingling peppers and ginger, warming, medium length.

    Score: 87

Bottom line: a good sweet-mineral Highland, slightly flavored with sherry, with a pleasant warming ginger spice and development in the aroma. It seemed a little more interesting than the basic 15, which I also really like.

... I know many of Dalwhinnie's DE vintages by now.
This one is the best so far in my opinion.
A wonderful malt that reflects all the advantages of the ex-bourbon and the Oloroso sherry barrel ".

Just as enjoyable as the Dalwhinnie 15, but with the Sherry touch.

Very enjoyable, easy drinking whisky. Fruity with a bit of sherry on the palate. What was good to see is that it has kept the lovely 15yo profile with the addition of subtle sherry notes.

  10. Marko_I did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

I am very positively surprised, of both, I remembered more like "lala", wrongly. "Qualitatively" I would not make any difference, in 1992 I personally have more.
    1992 = Restschluck from a bottle open about 1 year, 1997 = fresh.
    • Nose
      Direct comparison 1992/2010 vs. 1997/2014:
both fruity sweet, fairly straightforward and open, you do not have to look far for flavor
1992: a Haribo-Bärchen-touch, quite "juicy, red / black berries, cherries, with a pinch of cinnamon
1997: rather light fruits (compote), peach, apricot, pear, creamy, but also a slightly dry wood color
    • Taste
      Direct comparison 1992/2012 vs. 1997/2014:
both fruity sweet, fairly straightforward and open, you do not have to look far for flavor
1992: a Haribo-Bärchen-touch, quite "juicy, red / black berries, cherries, with a pinch of cinnamon
1997: rather light fruits (compote), peach, apricot, pear, creamy, but also a slightly dry wood color
    • Finish
medium long, sweet, slightly spicy, strangely comes here in 1997 a bit milder
