Whisky Reviews for Glendalough 07-year-old

This is not yet a distillate of the distillery, which has only existed since 2011. Time will tell what will make the character of Glendalough Distillery products.
    • Nose
At the beginning grassy-metallic, slightly alcoholic note. Removes some grease. Then slowly bright fruits and nutmeg come.
    • Taste
The grassy-strawy note continues on the palate, but disappears quickly. This is followed by spice cake and fruit punch. Oak resonates. Red grapes come with a light citrus note.
    • Finish
Medium long and dry. Back remains spicy fruit.

I am not a fan of such "dirty" aromas as oil or acetone or glue, as found in many Bourbons and some Irishmen. But apart from that, he comes across a surprisingly complex 7-year-old. The alcohol is a bit of a foregone conclusion, but for the age a really good drop! Plus: not cool filtered, minus: colored ... I also tasted the 13-year-old in Ireland and of course, as expected, he was more mature and "grown-up", the individual flavors were more noticeable.
    • Nose
First, lube oil, as it had with some Irish, but it is just tastier with cherries, a slight malty sweetness, a little vanilla, blossom honey,
    • Taste
In the mouth then surprisingly varied and full-bodied, light, fruity, youthfulness,
    • Finish
light creamy sweetness in the medium-long finish. The lubricating oil hangs for a long time.

Hmm, that's really delicious and also round for his age, if you let him breathe nice 15-20 minutes, I'm a friend of those pear notes, has something Japanese.
    • Nose
Beautiful pear, green apple, florales, honey, cereals, white sugar, grapes, white peach
    • Taste
Interesting, first pear, then vanilla and a blossom meadow, in addition to a spicy oak and vllt. A little bit of a burning, but very subtle, then a few beautiful berries are slightly pureed, honey, clove, rosemary, hazelnut
    • Finish
Eichig-kräutrig, bad a new sound, more Mediterranean, almost earthy, grape seeds, tree bark, young malt, medium long

gold color, very cereal nose, with vanilla, honey, a little chemical, some yellow fruits in the background. Better on the palate where the attack is sweet, creamy, honeyed, vanilla, still a lot of cereals, rather ripe yellow fruits but the finish is short, slightly bitter and vegetal. In the style the Bushmills 10ans is still better.

Actually I'm impressed, this whiskey is very different from other ones. For 7 years very tasty with a full body. Worth a try from my point of view!
    • Nose
Aroma reminds of bourbon or rye whiskey, a bit like glue or solvents. However, spicy wood is present combined with fruits. The nose is fresh, also vanilla and honey. Very unique.
    • Taste
The body is unique as well, a extremely strong marzipan taste. Very sweet, honey or sugar again with the bitterness of oak. Hints of wild berries. Further, very nutty with hazelnuts, almond and walnut. A bit salty at the end. Nice!
    • Finish
Wood, but not very long, maybe a bit like "metal", because a certain "feeling" stays.

A well-crafted whiskey, with well-controlled vegetal notes, body, power in the mouth, but that does not offer anything exceptional. This is a good whiskey, rather original for an Irish, but lacking maturity and roundness.
    • Nose
An Irish whiskey with clear notes of solvent, varnish. It's pretty unexpected. Pastry notes also: almonds, egg cream, vanilla, coconut. And then, a nice freshness brought by mint, verbena, lemon and orange. We detect very slightly a little spice in the background.
    • Taste
Vegetable notes much more present than nose. An impression of green tea that would have infused too much. Lemon Verbena is always well ahead, with a little more spice (pepper and cinnamon). It is quite woody, but the aromas are rather interesting, deviating from time to time towards the fruit of passion. The egg cream goes very well with dark chocolate and citrus (orange, lemon).
    • Finish
Medium intensity but rather long! Some notes of lemon, orange and cream remain in the mouth. The spices last a little longer, with some notes of wood that become, over the minutes, closer to the exotic fruits (pineapple and

Immediately after pouring it makes itself discreetly noticeable - it wabert a pleasant scent around the glass. After a few roll movements in the glass, a beautiful lip is formed, from which then dissolve drops like a string of pearls. Here, the lip is quite strong and by the running down drops form beautiful legs.

Makes all around a good impression, soft and well balanced. Only the waxy notes, which are quite dominant in my eyes, I did not like so much.
    • Nose
Quite fresh, waxy, tingling spicy, metallic, citrus notes, buttery. Gentle, without stinging or burning.
    • Taste
soft and gentle. Then a more vigorous spiciness sets in, it tickles on the tongue, then comes a very subtle smokiness, followed by citrus notes
    • Finish
soft, no burning, no stinging, gentle, creamy, light sweetness, slightly warming in the stomach. Also, here are the notes from the nose, this metallic waxy, which persists persistently.
