Remember, this thing is distilled in the 70´s

Favorite distillery. Old molt. Everything is just gorgeous. Great balance, creaminess, toffee, cream, prunes, dry taste, olroso, light smoke washes over you. Everything is gorgeous. And in the finish there is again a variety of dried fruits.

    Blenders Glass.
It may seem that there is a lot of wood, but no - everything is in moderation. Everything is exactly like a standard! B23
There are old school markers in the scent (old and dusty wood / furniture). It is a pity that there was only a sample, I want to return to such nectar.

You can hardly hear peat, branded HP sherry, great, but probably there is no point in overpaying compared to 48.1

Well balanced smoke, a lot of red fruits, some leather and varnish. Raisins and mature plums, a scent of vanilla and in the distance a touch of licorice.
    • Taste

    • Finish
      91 91
Long and warm, with spices and full of fruit. Only mild smoke. Dark honey, chocolate and some bitter almonds.

Great nose with minimal smoke, dark fruit, berries, tobacco, leather; In the mouth the clearly smoky (much more than its predecessor and also the successor) but very pleasant, I immediately have the feeling of being on Orkney, then clearly dark fruits and oranges, tobacco, leather, alcohol super integrated, not noticeable ... the hammer. Very mild and at the same time fierce, dark fruits and oranges, tobacco, leather that keep coming back in waves for a long time ... a real gentleman ... he's great, totally picks me up ... goose bumps!

Light smoke, plums, varnish, plums, apricots, very nice, at the finish, slightly sour, more apricots and peach jam, some heather, sweet onions. Ongoing very enjoyable

Great old highland park. Wonderful variety of flavors and thanks to the 50% they are powerfully brought to the tongue. All-round success if it weren't for the price you have to pay for it today ...

syrupy sweetness; dark fruity; Raisins; Oranges; some plum wine; some heather; Honey; some tobacco; Eucalyptus; Chocolate; I only perceive smoke very subtly

syrupy-oily; voluminous; sweet; Raisins; Oranges; Caramel; Herbal notes; Honey; Cocoa powder; dark chocolate; tingling peppery seasoning; Oak; delicate smoke

This one deserves respect. I’m typically a fan of young peat, but this shows a level of sophistication that most younger pours can’t achieve. It has a great balance of everything I want in a scotch. Light peat/controlled sherry/balanced oak/sweet and slightly sour/earthy and fruity/oily and juicy
    • Nose
      91 91
Syrupy golden raisins, tobacco, almonds, light peat, milk chocolate , vanilla, saltine
    • Taste
      93 93
Oily, butter tart w/raisin, quite juicy on the palate, oak is here but not overwhelming, light spice, peat is barely noticeable now, lemon
    • Finish
      92 92
Medium/Long. Sherry notes appear most here to me leaving pleasant lingering notes of : plum, orange, cocoa powder, honey for quite some time.

Third time tasting this. Yup, no change. Same 91 points.
    • Nose
Heavy and condensed, yet quite refined. Beautiful peat. Good complexity. Sweet, peaty, smoky, hint of sourness. More aromatic with air.
    • Taste
Yea, beautiful, man... Great ABV. I love this more than the 45.7% recent stuff.
    • Finish
Consistently good across the board. 91 points.

    • Nose
Initially discreet, gradually unfolding, complex. Apricot jam, light smoke and peat, sweet pastries, plum wine, lollipops, new furniture, varnish and polish (very, very delicately), oriental spices, a new tree, a little perfume, a slight hint of pine needles and juniper. 23
    • Taste
Moderately dry, full-bodied, powerful. Black pepper, oriental spices and spices, ascorbic acid, creamy caramel, red apple, plum wine, light smoke and peat, fruit drops, oak tannins. 22
    • Finish
Long, warming, smoothly fading, tannin, slightly astringent, with a pleasant oak bitterness at the end. 23
At first, the fragrance does not promise great miracles, but then everything falls into place. Whisky is pleasantly zasublen (although someone may find that the tree in the taste and finish a bit too much). Balance 22.

This one needs a little bit air. Then it becomes really good.

I'm just going through a little vertical of HP 25yo. Directly compared with the 25yo bottling from 2000 I prefer the 2000 bottling because of it's nose and spicyness. This one bottled 2004 is a bit fruitier on the palate but has more leathery finish.
    • Nose
Honey, fruits, hints of sherry wood - rather reluctant
    • Taste
Punchy and oily smooth, toffee, little citrus fruits, milk chocolate, very good sweetness
    • Finish
Medium long and warm, still subtle sweetness and smoothness, hints of leather in the end

    Serge V says:

    Highland
    Park 25 yo (50.7%, OB, 2004)

Colour: plain, deep gold. Nose: double
wow! This time it’s a little
less fresh and clean, but much, much
    more complex. Flowers and fruits,
for sure (see above) but also sea
air, mocha, peppermint. Hints of eucalyptus
    and turpentine, freshly crushed hazelnuts,
    subtle sherry… The developments
    are simply endless. I’d better
stop here or I’ll need bytes
and bytes. Mouth: bold attack, even
if much more austere than expected.
Smoke, burnt cake, black toffee, coffee
liqueur. The alcohol gets even a little
burning. Very creamy, though. It really
coats your mouth. Lots of crystallised
    orange, chestnut honey, lemon marmalade.
    Understatedly fruity (melon, ripe
apricot). Hints of camphor. In short,
this one is extremely nice, and far
    less ‘commercial’ than
expected. The finish is very long,
on orange syrup and honey. It comes
in a nice black ‘pencil box’
but beware, don’t pass it to
little children, as the brass shutter
can pinch you quite severely. Well,
    that’s what happened to me,
    at least… 90 points.

    A great Whisky!

HP is totally present; the alcohol strength is wonderful; for me this one is the potentiated form of these older HPs.

    Tasting with FineSpirits_butler1 (Oct. 2015).
    • Nose
      Cherries and apricots, forest honey, jams, chocolate, heather come out of the bottle;

woodsmoke, spices from the barrel + light peat are pervading from time to time the nose - extremely aromatic; hints of calf liver sausage and fine Mettwurst marge with dark gravy and hints of boullion cube, blackberries shine up, pine cones on the forest floor (covered with needles) - heated by the summer sun in a glade, hazelnut chocolate, Demarara sugar, coffee looks between at the edge of the glass, caramel is mixed with the honey, scouring powder adds to the tart and spicy part of the flavors, citrus and wooden spices dance together with the jams, heather, mocha creme, some maltiness, some tobacco, some Cognac, some creme tart, in clothes dried urin, slightly UHU or solvent … -

and then the differentiation simply stops:

the complete artwork opens up ('this is like a mystical experience' FineSpirits_butler1 said) ...
    • Taste
      Cherries, plums,orange juice, lemon juice, wood, sweetness, cocoa powder (with every sip more and more), herbs, honey, Cognac, Rumtopf, spiciness, tartness, strong Sherry, cake (also burnt), smoke also in the taste as well as peat, citrus peals;

some scouring powder, tobacco leaves, dark chocolate, Demarara, malty, some Grapefruit, leather, old cellar, old wood (barrel), citrus peals in wood smoke ...
    • Finish
      Cognac, sweetness, Demarara, jams (tart-sweet), Rumtopf, dry, extremely long aftertaste (!), honey, citrussy sourness, wood smoke again, cherries, forest floor in the summer, heather, beer foam (!);

later fruits with dry leaves, very pleasant wood, some radicchio bitterness, pepper, aftertaste of natural apple juice, some mineral hints ...

A malt with perfect quality - the distillery character is still there. A
brilliant dram with a very complex flavour profile. Optimal balance of
aroma and alcohol, perfectly integrated. A masterpiece. If there is a
list of whiskies you have to try before you die, this one MUST be on it!

    https://www.facebook.com/Whisky-Connaisseur-550443305109776
    • Nose
Very complex on the nose. Warm, notably flowery with masses of sweet
dried fruit. Lingering heathery smoke and heather honey with subtle
sherry. Hints of eucalyptus are coming through along with cinnamon,
vanilla, a whiff of tobacco leaves, moist earth, dark chocolate,
hazelnuts and salted butter. Very aromatic and appetising - an enormous
      nose. Fabulous.
    • Taste
Huge and rich, beautifully sweet with concentrated fruit sugars, orange
peel, hints of vanilla with lingering old but sweet sherry. Leather and
tobacco flavours come through along with marzipan, dark chocolate, nuts
and heather honey. Delicious spice, cinnamon and nutmeg anchored with a
delicate breeze of smoke. A massive mouthfeel.
    • Finish
Warm with a good length. Sweet with toffee and honey. Gets drier with orange peel, walnuts and fragrant smoke. Very enjoyable. WITH WATER: The whisky opens up, becomes voluminous, stays sweet with
an increased spiciness. Smoke emerges and takes the upper hand in time.

Not had this for some time but just as good as I remember it.

One of the best Highland Parks made with a near perfect profile.

Even at todays prices I believe this is worth saving up for.

    WITH WATER

Opened it up nicely with a drop of water and it became much creamier on the tongue, even smoother.

This is better than i remember. I will compare it to the 30yr and bicentenary later. But a very, very, nice HP.
    • Nose
      Notes from April 2009.
Rum & raisin, burnt orange, hint of vanilla.
    • Taste
Sweet, marzipan, dark chocolate, candy crisp, orange.
    • Finish
Long, smooth and orange, no burn.
