  1. KayMeertens scored this whisky 87 points Connoisseur

A very beautiful profile at this age but a bit too weak and a bit monotonous.
    • Nose
Toffee, mocha, cherry and raspberry. Whole wheat cooky with brown sugar. The sherry is definitely more dominant than the bourbon. Very nice profile.
    • Taste
Toffee, mocha, pistachios and gentle spices. It reveals it young age much more than the nose.
    • Finish
Toffee, mocha and spices. Now also a bit of vanilla from the bourbon barrels.

    Notes from a blind tasting
    • Nose
      87 87
Very quiet at first, almost closed. So let's give the dram time to breathe in the Snifter.
After some waiting time: Christmas spices emerge - cinnamon, coriander (?), plus brown sugar, nice warm oak spice, dried fruit in the form of prunes. The alcohol is almost imperceptible - excellently integrated.
    • Taste
      87 87
Sweet start, soft and creamy. For a moment you might think he's thin. But immediately strong oak spreads, tingling on the tongue, now come rum raisins, plums, forest honey.
    • Finish
      86 86
Medium to long, characterized by Christmassy and woody spiciness, the tongue is heavily coated. Espresso and very dark chocolate.

Great piece, I would have guessed this sherry bomb to be much older and more alcoholic.

    [Blind Tasting Notes]

Round 88 points, a (for me) perfect pre-Christmas whisky.
I would have taken that in 10 cl. Twice.

Tip: A sherry cask-stored Highlander with about 12 years that was not bottled just yesterday. Maybe early to mid 2000s? First I thought of Teaninich. Could also be an old Glendronach 12.

Denouement: Whoa, that was damn close. I thought to myself that it hadn't been in the barrel for 20 years, but I really didn't think it was that young. Great part!

Oho, nice old refill sherry character! Delicious leathery, umami-heavy, dark-spicy, with a delicate note of marzipan and polish. Me likey. A lot.
    • Taste
      88 88
Sherry galore. Super tasty and a great seasoning for the "only" 43 percent.
    • Finish
      87 87
A slight note of tea, as is so often the case with low alcohol levels, but also beautiful red fruits and liquorice.

    • Nose
      87 87
Caramel, acidity, vinous, strawberry sweetness, gently peppery, slightly cinnamon
    • Taste
      86 86
Orange, sweetness, pleasant acidity, slightly fruity, slightly chocolaty
    • Finish
      83 83
in short, most likely some chocolate

  8. Whisky Hamster scored this whisky 86 points Expert Senior

Solid young Dronach. Rumors say it is made from leftovers of the 8 yo Octarine. But cannot confirm, did not have them H2H. Anyhow, fun story.

  9. Ivynor scored this whisky 83 points Expert Senior

Okay but nothing more, a whisky nicknamed, and a little too young.
    82+ / 83 -
    • Nose
a little animal, quite young, lively, with lots of caramel, coffee, a little chocolate, raisin.
    • Taste
Pretty sweet, but not greedy, on raisins, wood, a little coffee and still caramel. End of mouth more vegetal
    • Finish
quite long, a little dry, with a lot of wood

  10. Rom did not rate this whisky Expert Junior

Caramel, a little alcohol felt, made young, a touch of sulfur and vanilla. Still a little alcohol on the palate, woody, sweet raisins but again it is a little too aggressive and immature. Always too much alcohol in the final, not terrible at all.

  11. tomy63 scored this whisky 82 points Expert Senior

Deep gold color, very young nose on brown sugar, caramel, fruit cake, vanilla, raisins. Mouth sweet, easy, too sweet, very caramel. Short final, some spices and more.

  12. Glenfarclas1887 scored this whisky 87 points Expert Junior

A wonderfully fruity summer whisky. The taste reflects the nose very clearly. Despite the young age already very harmonious in the taste. No miss notes - a great bottling of Jack Wiebers.

    • Nose
A fruity mix of orange and apricot, vanilla, raisins in alcohol, light sherry and marzipan. Despite the age already very round and balanced.
    • Taste
Fruity start with the glendronach - typical orange note, very creamy, raisins and a delicate bitterness of the European oak.
    • Finish
Medium-long and tingling in the throat with a light dryness and chocolate note.

I tried him in direct comparison to the 8yo Octraine by Glendronach. The color is 100% the same. The situation is similar in taste. Slight differences in nose and finish. Blind, I think it's hard to keep them apart.
    • Nose
It has more of the Sherry keg than the Bourbon keg, fresh, young, metallic, lots of orange, distillery vanilla and ginger, light oak on tap, later hints of dark fruit, round
    • Taste
fresh start, fresh fruit, more orange, clear sherry, the alcohol very well integrated, prickling tongue
    • Finish
Dry than the 8 years suggest, but quite a barrel, dark chocolate, light spicy and spicy

  16. Erik Elixir scored this whisky 83 points Connoisseur

    Compared with Glendronach 1995 #1557 and Glendronach 1995 #2380
    • Nose
Coffee, chocolate, vanilla like toasted oak. Fudge and spices - nutmeg, cloves and cinnamon.
    • Taste
Orange, creamy fruits, coffee - espresso, spices and orange peel.
    • Finish
Medium drying with some forest fruit, citrus, spices and some mint.

  17. Falnor scored this whisky 80 points Connoisseur

    Good for
this price, but rather simple. Better go for the OB
    revival or octarine
    • Nose
      Sultanas, caramel,
pancake syrop, toffee and a malty core. The sherry cask wins on the nose. Somewhat
like the octarine, although less in execution
    • Taste
      Latte
macchiato, so pretty creamy with just a hint of coffee. Probably the bourbon
that makes it lighter and sweeter.
    • Finish
      Warm and alright,
      but also very short

Totally a good deal for the money!
    • Nose
Cadbury with a hint of sulphur. (not in a bad way)
      Milky, sweet and malty.
    • Taste
      Dangerously drinkable.
A little dry with raisins and vanilla.
    • Finish
      Short but pleasant.

    Glendronach 8 years, 43% alc.
    Bottler: Lars Wiebers (Whisky manufactory)
    Expansion: Bourbon + Sherrycasks
    Region: Speyside, Scotland

Special feature: Lars Wiebers got several barrels 8-year-old Glendronach and now fills his own ... batch. These bottlings are available under the label "Whiskymanufaktur" in various whisky shops in Berlin and soon also online.

Nose: Orange aromas in their most beautiful form, with peaches and apricots. Green apples are also part of the party. Behind, the fruits are a bit more mature, a hint of raspberry in vanilla cream appears. After a while, half caramelized sugar and raisins are added.

Palate: Fruity with apricot and clear sherry influence, the single painting is creamy and mouth-filling, it tingles slightly on the palate. In addition, citrus fruits come in malt, and he has already got some wood for 8 years (spices, tannins).

Finish: Long and balanced, fruity and pleasant. The oak only tickles and is not too heavy yet.

Conclusion: Wow, I like better than the original bottling. Suitable for all connoisseurs.
