Flawless, but far from exciting mal. But hey, it is their entry level malt for little money. So yes, this is bang for your buck, even though it is not a top malt.
    • Nose
The nose is soft on mostly citrus fruit and vanilla with a good helping of honey. Some red berries in the background. It can use some time to breath. Then it also offers some pepper and toffee.
    • Taste
It is very creamy – a pleasant surprise – and soft. The red berries turn blue on the palate, while the citrus and vanilla remain in the lead. Some nuts appear. This is a step up from the Select Reserve, which I found to be a real lightweight. This one has more going for it.
    • Finish
The finish is very short, unfortunately, and it turns a bit bitter at the death.

Value for money is good, but it's not a premium stuff.

Citruses, honey, toffee, vanilla and forest fruits. A bit of sulfuric gum?
    • Taste

Light, but powerful and creamy. Waxy apple peel, currant, hazelnut, pepper and oak.
    • Finish

      Medium, sour length.

  9. Marko_I did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

Solid thing, ~ 35 € go OK, but had better NAS Glenrothes the lower price range.
    • Nose
First quite lemony, it takes a while, until it fades away ... then very dry, a little bit of honey, a touch of fresh bread ... and newsprint ... a little sweeter, more caramelized over time
    • Taste
for 40% it is good peppery and fiery on the tongue, plus toffee, nut nougat cream, a bit dry-woody, but not bitter
    • Finish
medium long, not quite as peppery as expected, nut, slightly burnt-bitter
