Whisky Reviews for Auchroisk 1996 VM

3 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 84.80 points

  1. Calmar scored this whisky 86 points Connoisseur

Active finish, with a weak main, a barrel from under the port dominates in all the components, up to the color, it's hard to say what's left of the base, but the mole came out, in my opinion, pretty, the mass of the port, of course, so only for the amateurs of his own ; juicy, tight and cheerful, playful and young - like the ruby itself.
    • Nose
An open, moist, damp oak barrel from under the ruby porto, young red wine, fusel-moonshine notes, window putty, sunflower seeds, sesame, toasted nuts, grape juice, processed noble wood.
    • Taste
Porto ruby, ginger, berry jam - currant, strawberry; watery astringent oak.
    • Finish
Knitting oak, black tea, porto, pies with berries.

  2. Toffie76 scored this whisky 85 points Expert Senior

    • Nose
Fruity nose, sweet, with spices, cinnamon, brown sugar, grapes, a trace of smoke, a touch of mint. Candied orange.
    • Taste
Satisfactory length. Beautiful development, well balanced. The Porto finish is not invasive and does not crush the distillate. Everything is very clean. Pleasant.
    • Finish
Relatively short, but strong enough and robust enough to make you forget the dilution.

  3. Bishlouk scored this whisky 86 points Connoisseur

Alcohol well integrated, the reduction does not feel. Overall very nice.
    • Nose
A sweet and sweet nose where the touch of Porto is directly perceptible, but also (and especially) the fruits: melon, apricot, peach, watermelon. Light hints of clove and dry leather. The smell of malt appears after aeration.
    • Taste
An appetizer peppered, quickly caught by the fresh and juicy fruits. Spices are not left behind, cinnamon in the lead.
    • Finish
Average. Apricot bitterness, and sweet spices slowly die in the throat. A pinch of pepper on the tip of the tongue.
