    TASTING NOTE by G&M;

    Colour: Light gold.

    WITHOUT WATER:

Nose: Sweet, scented, hint of camphor and a toasted maltiness.

Palate: Sweet and spicy, malty notes again present.

    WITH WATER:

Nose: Perfumed with nutty aromas, the sweetness is now in the background.

Palate: Smoky initially with earthy/herbal notes.

    Body: Medium.

    Finish: Drying.

    Cask Type(s): Refill Bourbon barrels.

Whisky Style: Subtle Highland malt balanced with the sweetness from the bourbon

    casks.

Nose is some gentle fruit and wood - and some malted cereal.

A soft and gentle palate - hints of grapefruit and tangerines, mixed with honey and a little spice, but not an overtly fruity one. water turns bitterer and adds some cardboard and newsprint.  Better neat.
Medium finish, mildly bitter, orange pith, more grapefruit.  Water adds some sawdust.

A nice gentle, easy-sipping, middle aged lochside; not too complex, and better neat.

Nose discreet enough on vanilla, caramel and fruits that simmer. Sweet mouth on sweet fruits. Final also very sweet; too much.

Cross comparison with Lochside G&M 1991 bottled in 2011. It seems that the 2008 version is more spicy and slightly more floral than the 2011 version.
    • Nose
Grassy and malty. Lemongrass. Slightly soapy as well. Some yellow fruit and vanilla. Cardboardy.
    • Taste
Malty and spicy. Bananas and grapefruits. Sweet barley.
    • Finish
Medium long. Dry and bitter-sweetness. Hints of citrus fruit.

It's a Lochside, but nowhere near some of the bottlings in the past few years.
    • Nose
Puff pastry.  Dew soaked cut grass.  Epsom salt. Quarry rocks. Sweet, and a bit citric.  Malt and aluminum cans.
    • Taste
Delicate, sweet, and citric (lemons and tangelos).  Bees wax.  Fresh dough.  Malt, again.  Earl Grey tea.
    • Finish
Short, dry, and grainy.  Dried lemon peels.
