A young, strong and surprisingly good bottling from France - sherry lovers will get their money's worth here!
    [Color:] = amber;
    • Nose
      strong aromas, ripe oranges, raisins and a lot of sherry, wood / oak;
    • Taste
      a full, aromatic start, oily body, a lot of sherry, caramel, sweetness, a little alcohol, spices (cloves, pepper), also oak;
    • Finish
      quite a long finish, again sherry, caramel, sweetness, woody and bitter in the aftertaste;

  3. Don Cassi scored this whisky 84 points Expert Senior

The nose starts out grape, the fruitiness reminds of a cognac, associations like rum pot, a bit nutty (Brazil nut)

In the mouth it is a bit soapy, fermented fruit, very intense and full, the alcohol is very well integrated.

In the finish, then leather, dark dried fruits, old wood, a little nutmeg and at the end a small peat smoke flag.

Overall, an interesting bottling for friends of rather bitter malts. Looks much older than its label. Great integrated alcohol.

    Grade 2+

A decent malt. You can drink, but I don't necessarily have to have it again. He's not enthusiastic enough for that.
    • Nose
The alcohol can already be felt in the nose. There are also red berries that are reminiscent of raspberries and red currants. Fructose. Rotten hay bulb. Somewhat earthy and musty notes. White pepper.
    • Taste
Quite creamy and sweet in the mouth at first. Caramel and rock candy. Some mushy strawberries. After a while it becomes tangibly spicy. There is also a tingling sensation. Raspberry fizzy sticks.
    • Finish
The red berries become a bit more sour. Some charcoal. It's getting drier.

Bit of a disappointment. Goes so.
    • Nose

Sweet, peppery, slightly woody - mushroom - musty note and
      Alcohol is palpable.
    • Taste
      78 78
Not very sweet, very peppery, dry sherry notes
    • Finish
      75 75
First sweet, then peppery with light wood notes

      Fruity and sweet
      peppery and a bit musty
Alcohol integrated wonderfully (no biting in the nose)
    • Taste
      90 90
peppery start (certainly also the alcohol)
Ginger, vanilla and sherry are discreetly in the background
becomes nice and oily / supple
      Chocolate, coffee
      light tannins
    • Finish
      88 88
      medium length
      Coffee and chocolate

Very pleasant - a decent whisky from a country more famed for its wines - this is a bit of a hidden gem.
    • Nose
      83 83
Sherry notes and a slightly woody smell come through on the nose.
    • Taste
      84 84
Surprisingly soft in the mouth, the sherry notes continue, but in a pleasant way. Not too dry and the alcohol is remarkably relaxed.
    • Finish
      82 82
      Leaves you wanting more.

  8. PuddingmitHaut did not rate this whisky Expert Senior

    • Nose
slightly pungent alcohol, vanilla, milk chocolate, light lemon, white pepper, subtle muff
    • Taste
Much fuller than expected in the mouth. Oily, waxy and mouth-filling. But quite herbal, the pepper is there again. But also a dense sweetness. Interesting. Not leaky.
    • Finish
it remains a little dry for a while.

  9. rottendon scored this whisky 86 points Connoisseur

The mouth does not cover the nose at all, it looks much younger and less woody here. Interesting combination, maybe the blend?
This should also be around 55%.

Notes from a blind online chat tasting.

The armorics can be really, really good! That would definitely have passed for me as a Scot.
    • Nose
      87 87
Another glass, maybe therefore very shy, only after a few seconds is there at least fruit acid, looks red (berry), again Esther.
With the standing time a nice ripe nose has developed, which immediately appears very harmonious and well interwoven. A little sherry, a lot of barrel, leather and cellar, but also a few fruit notes, baked apple and pumpkin compote, nutty. Looks fresher over time, but the alcohol tickles from time to time. Warm, fresh fruit notes come to the fore. Red berries, very strong!
    • Taste
      87 87
In the mouth it is dense and oily, strong sweetness fights for dominance with bitter herbs and wins backwards. The alcohol is strong, but does not burn a bit. There is also a trace of menthol to the rear. In the second sip, the sweetness does not win as clearly, because more menthol can now be found.
    • Finish
      85 85
In the aftermath, the sweetness sticks vigorously with the menthol before it dries, just before it disappears. Overall, however, rather short. In the second sip also liquorice.

      Long, sweet, salty

  12. Shane_IL scored this whisky 83 points Expert Senior

This was a well made whisky but I felt that the wood notes were a bit too dominant.
    • Nose
Caramel. Oak chips. Wood spice. Grapefruit. Orange peel.
    • Taste
      Dust. Wood. Caramel. Nutty sherry.
    • Finish
      Long. Bitter wood. Caramel.

A distillery and a product that grow in power.
After the 10 and the 11 years, the 12 years old confirms all the good that one thought of this Armorik.
    Highly 15 years old.

  14. Noface83 scored this whisky 85 points Specialist

Also very tasty and well matured. But something special is missing like the two Sauternes and Chardonnay Cask bottlings. Nevertheless, a very good whisky with the typical Oloroso notes.
    • Nose
Typical Oloroso notes: Dried fruit, slight nuttiness, heavy sweetness, a little musty, with hints of old wood and hints of sour light fruits, the alcohol is also noticeable in the nose
    • Taste
peppery onion, sour apples, sherry sweets
    • Finish
long finish with aromas of apple pie and dried fruit, very dry and fruity, slightly sweetness (ginger?), the oak and bitterness are there but very discreet
