  1. KayMeertens scored this whisky 84 points Connoisseur

Considerably less sweet than the diluted range, for which more active casks seem to have been used. More natural.
    • Nose
Malt, peat, oak, toffee, orange and cardboard. Becomes rather thin when adding water.
    • Taste
Peat, malt, orange, peach, pepper and chocolate. With water some apple.
    • Finish
Peat, chocolate, malt, orange, peach, chili pepper and toffee

  2. Ivynor scored this whisky 86 points Expert Senior

A nice surprise from Arran. An interesting profile.

Nose well peaty, associated with apple brandy and lemony notes. Fatty nose. Beautiful vanilla cream in the background.
    • Taste
      85 85
Creamy mouth, although a bit young, on peat, ashes, vanilla, vegetal notes. not too sweet.
    • Finish
      86 86
Long enough, on the ashes, peat, white pepper, and vanilla coming from the barrel. Nice roundness.

A mouthfull of young peated highland whisky. Pretty strong, but still drinkable. The sweetness and quick maturation make sure it isn't too much of a spirit.

    • Nose
    • Finish
      Finale: Souple, longue, salée, viandée.

This whisky is ok in my opinion, but it has not the special thing that makes me rebuy this stuff. The finish is quite short for a peated whisky.
    • Nose
sweet and peat, slightly fruity with a touch of lemon and grapefruit
    • Taste
a little bit alcoholic, then the peat arises together with a hint of bbq sauce. After I got used to the alcohol and peat, I notice apples and pears
    • Finish
      Not that long, peaty

  7. Andytka3 scored this whisky 87 points Connoisseur

    N-
Soft earthy peat with sharp and robust choking strength, malty with
minimum wood influence. Whiff of antiseptic, mineral and sea breeze.
Water drawn out the savoury umami.

P- Sour fruits along spicy heat, dry and chewy mouthfeel with rich malt. Challenging to the palate but flavoursome.

F- Medium length, smooth. Subtle, rooty with spicy coating. Chewy and gum twitching sensation, awesome.

  10. HunterRomario scored this whisky 83 points Expert Senior

Tasty at the Whisky Festival 2016. The excited Arran is as rigorous as the Radek's march, but unfortunately I miss something more, the layiness and richness is not here.
    • Nose
Here I added water directly, without much water, and it was hard to smell anything. Of course, the water is crisp, grassy, lemon juice, pineapple juice. There is not much to know. (83 b)
    • Taste
The taste is shiny, with smoke, grass, green apples and apricots. In the flavor, the peat is quite clear and distinctive, but it is rather short. Even after dilution, they are "razor blades". (83 b)
