Reviewing this from a sample bottle.
Nose: Beeswax, truckloads of pineapple, citrus, fruit syrup, papaya with mild saline aromatics. This is what I would call a tropical fruit party! Instantly reminds me of the beach. I like it, I like it a lot. 'Springbank goes to Speyside.
I don't think this is as good as its sibling 15-year (same bottle design, but bottled in 93), but we're talking by a beez.......wax. (pun intended)
Returning back to the glass now, grassy notes, aromas of herbal tea. This is similar to a modern profile, but stir in some OBE, and we have some whiffs of antique dust, and some dried mangos.
Palate: Oh wow! The incredible explosion of tropical fruits, that pineapple really shines in the front palate, then dissolves into a medley of herbal fruit teas, sandalwood, beeswax, a hint of paraffin.
The finish drives home, salty, with loads of citrus fruits, and even a hint of orange peel. Wow actually, I'm liking this more than I initially was. Medium-long finish and this is going from 91 to 92pts. Well done my old dusty sample, you've been quite the experience.
