It's weird but I like it. Tasted during a blind tasting competition in May/June 2016.
    • Nose
Ashes, with some peatiness. Rubber shoe soles, but also icing sugar. Bit of wet paper, wet dog (but not a smelly dog). Faint hints of toffee and vanilla. Anise, malty, barley, and I also get a hint of a salty sea breeze. Weird nose, but somehow I like it a lot!
    • Taste
Beautifully balanced whisky, great taste with some smokiness, but quite hard to pinpoint tastes. Seems a mix of bourbon and sherry casks? Marzipan, loads of spiciness (cinnamon, nutmeg, some anise) on the tongue. Lots of pear. Almond.
    • Finish
Spices prevailing, with almond at the roof of the mouth. It has a pretty long finish but after the nose and taste it is a bit of a disappointment; it also turns a wee bit sour at the very end.

    • Nose
Slightly tingling, peat, leather, tobacco, fresher, fruit, citrus and some pineapple. And something salty emerges (salt water from the sea), vanilla tones
    • Taste
Oily, stimulating, sweet peat, vanilla, citrus fruits and something that goes towards chocolate.
    • Finish
Medium-long, peat, leather, tobacco, somewhat greasy, sweet

The nose of this whisky is fairly nice and pleasant but on the palate I found this a bit on the unbalanced side of things. It clearly has the Tobermory/Ledaig characters (of which I’n not a huge fan). The slightly vinegary tones are not really nice on the palate and in the finish.
All in all an interesting dram with a slight challenge.

    Tasted blind during PO2016
    • Nose
A light, fresh, fruity and sweet whisky with aromas of honey, sweet smoke, ash, floral tones, green tea, lemon oil, white wine, almonds, rubber, sugar, subtle vanilla, cereals, farmy tones, earthy, mineral tones (chalk), hay, subtle coffee, fennel and a hint of oak
    • Taste
A sweet, spicy and fresh whisky with aromas of pepper, chili pepper, subtle smoke, earthy tones, hint of candied lemon peel, floral tones, honey, icing sugar, lemon oil, ginger, hint of brine, marzipan, subtle vanilla, spices, hint of tannins and subtle oak
    • Finish
A medium, sweet and slightly drying finish with aromas of smoke, peat, earthy tones, lemon peel, sour tones (vinegar), subtle tannins and slightly bitter oak.

I did not like it in balance. Llind tasted during PO2016!
    • Nose
Peat, petrol, old iron, lemon, peach and vanilla.
    • Taste
Turf smoke, little medicinal, salt, petrol, lemon, pepper, peach and toasted bread.
    • Finish
Medium, peat, salt, lemon and burnt toast.

Blind tasting of a sample. No doubt that this was a Ledaig. Not really my favourite one though.
    • Nose
Peat. Dirty, farmy: Cow pat. Then cleaner: Orange, sour dough, malt (somewhat beer-like) and a small trace of red fruits.
    • Taste
Peat of course. Again quite dirty, somewhat meaty. Orange, pepper and perhaps a little sulphur. Somewhat brackish, and even more so when adding water.
    • Finish
      Farmy peat and orange.

    • Taste
      Smokey,
      mineral, chalky, vanilla,. (83)
    • Finish
      More
smoke, vanilla, marshmallows, also faint leathery notes, but very
straight / not much development. (82)
