    Good, but especially interesting Connemara, because softer than its younger brothers without losing character. Around 130 EUR nowadays, but gladly spent.
    • Nose
      The nose is surprisingly soft, as if the peat is already matured out. I get mostly toffee, grass, oranges and lime, lots of earthy notes, ashes and vanilla. Green grapes and honey. So this is mostly fruity on citrus with only a touch of peat. Something of sunshine of gravel. But this is a very enticing nose, despite the fact that it shows little complexity for each age. Humble.
    • Taste
      It is sweet and sour on the palate, with a fine body. Gooseberries, Granny Smith apples, grapefruit, vanilla, oranges and honey. The peat smoke is really discrete, but does give it some nice depth. Loads of spices, though. Even a touch salty. How lovely indeed.
    • Finish
      The finish is medium long, bittersweet with a touch of smoke and a surprising floral hint. I get some liquorice at the death.

    The nose I was still afraid the difference to the 12 peated is not so big, how much you can be fooled! In the mouth until the departure of a multiple superior and varied!
    • Nose
      Like the 12 peated still very delicate and restrained, rather more even, far back you have sweet, meringy wood on the beach, a little vanilla, eucalyptus and mint, lemon drop, musk, hint pear
    • Taste
      Also more delicate in the mouth than the 12er, but here again more complex and with time only increasingly full towards the end, you have a very interesting mix of coastal landscape and Blumenfeld, plus pear, green apple, lemon, vanilla, honey, salted caramel and again the flowery, hints of mint, but not as present as in the nose in between, x times better than the nose!
    • Finish
      Flotsam, dry moss, hints of flowers, but the salt, citric acid and light soot are more present, green apple, eucalyptus, medium to long

    Round, balanced, fine. The 22YO is impressive. The price is still crazy, of course.
    • Nose
      A fine smoky note that clouds notes of apricot and honeydew melon. Little peaty, but the smoke has a slight pungent impact of sal ammoniac. As soon as the nose gets used to the smoke, the fruits and fine vanilla dominate. Some oak.
    • Taste
      Full body. Smoke as it comes out of a chamber where sausages are smoked. Heather and honey, fruit notes. As in the nose, the smoke impression dissipates quickly and leaves a pleasantly warming fruity sweetness.
    • Finish
      Medium long and dry with increasing oak and a return of cooled smoke.

    A really nice whiskey. Pleasant, mature and set with ner flag smoke.

      Blind Sample:

      Shiny gold

      A subtle smoky note and sweetener. A little cold ache and honey. I mean to recognize the smoke and the sweetener. Have Conemara Peated, who smells similar. The colleague gets a bit saltier and shows moist humus. Clear on the nose, but restrained. Sweetened mint tea and softwood oil. A very nice balanced nose. With some time in the glass nougat makes itself felt. And oily pickled, light fruit. A trace of old leather and cinnamon. I think this nose is great. Mature, set and satisfied old.
    • Taste
      Soft start. Then a little spicy smoke and light biting on the tongue. But then it gets creamier. Honey again. Add vanilla and slightly salty caramel. The elegant, mature taste but also produces more and more forest. With malt and something like hazelnut oil. Just got the idea of dry Nutella. A pleasant dryness is spreading. Dark wheat beer and some herbs.
    • Finish
      Medium. Only oily and mineral. Then towards the end, getting dry with spicy woody taste.

    He is different. But different. I like the lengths better than the younger bottlings. Unusual notes dominate, smoke is almost unnoticeable.

      Leather, sour citrus, eucalyptus, fir green, sweet caramel, slightly smoked ham
    • Taste
      Sweet caramel, eucalyptus, citrus, wild berries, occupies the mouth. Alcohol strong enough
    • Finish
      Beautiful finish with fir green, eucalyptus

    A nice subtle peated malt, not much else going on. Imo definitely not worth the rrp of €100+

    Glad I just had a sample of it, now I know what it's about.

    nice round malt - balanced, spicy, fine - does not taste like a typical Irishman, blindly I would tap on a Scotsman, but whether the 15, 18 or 22y is old - I do not really taste the difference
    • Nose
      restrained nose, oily lemon, cinnamon, sugar, degraded phenolic smoke, mint, resin, citrus oil
    • Taste
      slightly sour sweet lemon, cinnamon, clove, fine smoke residues, fresh mint cools the palate, dry and astringent, fine oak, salty
    • Finish
      spicy, fresh, cooling, lemony

    If someone is looking for something subtly smoky and good drinkable from Ireland, you will find it here. For expert noses, there certainly seems to be more, but unfortunately not for me.
    • Nose
      Sweet smoke, which is quite clearly in the foreground. Vanilla paired with moldy wood. There is also something minty or menthol. Pear just slipped into my nose. It also shows slightly spicy notes. Nothing beats and stings here, he gently turns his nose.
    • Taste
      Very soft and gentle. Creamy. At first he is rather neutral, after a few seconds the smoke starts. A few seconds later, this menthol note comes back and remains quite noticeable. Floral notes.
    • Finish
      He runs his throat without burning or stinging down, a warming feeling is missing. Again the subtle menthol. The smoke is not so dominant. Very light dry impressions. Is there anything left? Maybe a bit of moldy wood, light menthol.
