Fantastic, complex nose where crystal-clean barley and bourbon-derived vanilla are enveloped by warm sherry notes (including roast coffee beans, dark chocolate, glacé cherries, hazelnut praline, poached pears in syrup). A drop of water brought forward hints of a dunnage warehouse and a slight grassy note. Great stuff! Similarly complex on the palate, with the crystal clean barley to the fore, again encased within the warm, fruity sherry notes. A very slight 'edge' (alcohol burn-esqe) I associate with younger whiskies was the only notable flaw, and in a way it actually enhanced the experience with the way it integrated with the sherry notes. Medium-length finish, where again you have both bourbon and sherry cask influences lingering. Excellent whisky, fairly priced, no colouring or chill filtering and a decent strength. What's not to like?!
