Wow, a great and complex Port Charlotte. The combination of Weinfassreifung and strong smoky distillate suits me perfectly here.
    • Nose
      92 92
For the high alcohol strength initially surprisingly restrained and somewhat closed. Then the typical aromatic smoke of Port Charlotte appears first, but then it is immediately overwhelmed by a wonderful fruity sweet on a broad front. Sweet cherries and grapes, even some strawberry meet salty smoke. Simply gorgeous this elegant nose.

It becomes fresher with water, shows some menthol and ashes.
    • Taste
      90 90
Without water, as expected, a lot of power due to the high alcohol content. It first rolls a big wave of peat smoke through the mouth. On the tongue, this beats violently and even slightly peppery. Behind it shows the sweetness, but can not prevail, unlike the nose. Instead, rather dry and slightly herbier notes on the palate, reminiscent of dark chocolate.
    • Finish
      88 88
Long and warm. Dark chocolate with elegant oak notes. The smoke stops without pushing to the foreground.

"A humble summer dinner by the fire!" Bonfire, ash, dust, engine oil, leather, jacket potatoes, black pepper, mustard, fish oil, chicken broth, raw wood, walnuts, hazelnuts, dark chocolate, coffee with cream, duchesse. Mineral and menthol!

It has an oily viscosity and a high-intensity bouquet. I have aromas of intense peat smoke, ash, raisin syrup, plum wine, malty sweetness, spicy oak, curry sauce and citrus. Relatively complex. A good balance between sweetness and dryness in terms of taste. He has clearly noticeable alcohol and a heavy body.

    Great young Port Charlotte. 22.5-22.5-22-22

A bit of a strange PC. A non-fortified wine aging in which after 6 years the nose is not integrated perfecty yet, it's a bit unbalanced. There's a more or less thinned out sweetness floating on top the rest. Still an ok dram though, but lags behind the older sherry or port aged PC's.
    • Nose
      86 86
A-typical nose for a PC, has difficulties opening up (needs quite some time), but doesn't need much water. Earthy, a cow stable, some burnt and smoked old and wet wood, quite nutty (walnuts, pecans), after 30 minutes liquiroce and anise, some general sweetness, maybe a little honey, but specific fruitiness doesn't really come through.
    • Taste
      87 87
Well integrated alcohol, the almost 64% doesn't really show. A peppery pinch, a bit damp, 'wet' smoke, some walnuts, sweet fruit syrup, liquorice, charcoal, dusty wood spice.
    • Finish
      88 88
Very long: nutty, sweetish, mildly peppery, lingering black liquorice, charred and scorched wood notes.

    nose:
peat, lemon, meat scent, smoke already too
oaky, malty, some salt too and fruit on citrus and candied fruit, a little on mulled wine ... chilled.
    mouth:
spicy and alcoholic flood on the palate!
    it stings, dirty peat, a little muddy, earth, salty algae, tannin, the bottom of the glass with the debris in it, still salty, it suddenly becomes hyper astringent, more than bitter, that destroys the beauty of the candied fruit on the lemon and the orange and the sweetness of the wine;
a little wood and dark chocolate to finish
    final:
Peppery spices, bitterness, fruity and vinified, chocolatey, earthy peaty, rather long but unique sensation.
difficult to settle, with a strong intensity on pleasant markers and others difficult to tame like this tenacious bitterness.

Yes, after Palaemona everything looks very modest, the influence of the barrel is not felt at all, only the base and in comparison with the same Palemonium losing. Although, if you discard all the comparisons of the Molt is very good, harmonious, bright, strong, again curbed and directed in the right direction, but Palemony can not be thrown out of your head ..
    • Nose
Closed, soft, smoke-peaty, resin notes, burning spruce firewood, coniferous brooms in a bath, new leather products.
    • Taste
Smoky-peat, astringent, explosive wave of orange and lemon zest, peppery wave, cream, chocolate notes, spicy oak.
    • Finish
Oak bitterness on sweet and sour background, orange peels, light creamy tones, lemon in tea.

Despite the young age, for me a very strong malt, which can be enjoyed both with, and without adding water. Extremely strong and wild with no water, it is fruity, sweeter with a little water.
    • Nose
Strong, dark smoke. Salty sea air. In addition, light red wine aromas, which become increasingly fruity with increasing time. The high alcohol content makes itself felt only by a pleasant coolness in the nose, but does not bother.
    • Taste
Extremely strong start, it tingles on the tongue. Immediately, the smoke pushes forward. After that, oranges peel out. Very dry in the mouth, with a clear salt note.
Some water takes the Malt his fiery start. The dark wine notes are clearer.
    • Finish
Ash, burnt wood, smoke. This blend occupies the tongue and ensures a long lasting flavor. Strong, warming finish. Madness!

Well made PC, the cask influence is less active than in the same aged Palaemon. Still quite intense whisky. After tasting for a second time I added an extra point (from 89 to 90) for the long finish and aftertaste that stays with you for a long time after sipping this whisky.
