    Nice Islay alternative for easy access, low-priced and decent constructed NAS whisky. I do like this style, and prefer it over many other NAS-es. Much better than Laphroaig Select, or some Bowmore.
    • Nose
      82 82
      Sweet. Dry. Custard pudding (very clear). White wine. Savoury fresh herbs. And don’t forget the smoke; not ashy, not bonfire, but definitely smoke.
      With water it is softer, sweeter, less smoky, less savoury.
    • Taste
      84 84
      Sweet, smoky vanilla arrival. Develops towards a dry vanilla and bitter wood.
      With water the taste improves and shows soft sweet arrival and develops into sweet juicy oranges, vanilla and summer flowers.
    • Finish
      82 82
      Medium. Clear vanilla sweet and citrussy bitter dry.

    A young, uncomplicated, average Highland Single Malt at an attractive price!
    • Nose
      subtle aromas: herbs, vanilla, pleasant smoke, sweetness;
    • Taste
      light, almost watery onset, pleasant smoke, vanilla, caramel; clearly young and simple;
    • Finish
      very short finish; light smoke;

    There’s a decent amount of peat, which is nice, but not a whole lot else going on. The solvent-y note on in the nose is a bit off putting but overall not too bad. The flavours are so thin and really brings the whole thing down. If you’re looking for an introduction to peated whisky look elsewhere, as there are better alternatives.

    Not a bad beginner, but not really good. PLV is good.
    • Nose
      80 80
      Wood notes and a hint of cherry, campfire smoke
    • Taste
      70 70
      At the beginning it tastes like burnt toast, which unfortunately is much overrun, a hint of caramel is to taste, a little sweetness, herbal notes
    • Finish
      74 74
      Medium long, a lot of smoke, oak bitterness, a trace of fruit

    I like Ardmore! But this one ... He does not smell very good and he does not taste good either. Probably bottled young. Which target group is released? The complexity I value so much goes beyond the legacy. And I idiot bought 3 bottles ... Every visitor has to taste one, before there is a good whisky ...
    • Nose
      Flat, one-dimensional and uninviting. A hint of smoke and maybe a little vanilla. That's supposed to be Ardmore?
    • Taste
      Slight sharpness and clear alcohol on the tongue. Probably because there is hardly anything else left. In the background some smoke and sweetener.
    • Finish
      Luckily, very short. But alcoholic and hardly any smoke.

    Character: Some sherry, some malt, some smoke and some pepper. Everything very shadowy and pale and inharmonious.
    Evaluation: When it comes to taste and pleasure: You do not have to drink alcohol for this. When it comes to alcohol, you do not need that taste. Unfortunately, a bottling with which I can not handle at all. This half-hearted pepper-smoke combination really bothers me. Accordingly, there are only 70 points from me and the certainty that I will have the third time in the glass.
    • Nose
      Basic flavors: sweetness, malt, smoke, seasoning
      Description: First of all, there is a sweetish-sticky sherry aroma in the nose. Honey resonates and a bit of malt comes to the fore. However, the malt is superimposed by a half-hearted smoke-pepper combination, with which I do not like making friends on the second tasting evening.
    • Taste
      Basic flavors: sweetness, seasoning, smoke
      Description: Clear, clearly sweet and peppery and spicy from the beginning, the drop hits the tongue. So it stays that way. Except for a distinct bitterness that takes place, surprisingly, completely without oak, the flavor develops nothing here.
    • Finish
      Basic flavors: smoke, pepper, malt (little)
      Description: The finish is medium long. Water and a bit of malt as a carrier mass together with smoke and excessive pepper sound unbalanced and somehow not tasty at all.

    He does not do anything wrong, but nothing really good. An entry-level whisky, mild and balanced with very soft smoke, but without corners and edges. A bit boring, but for the price that's ok.
    • Nose
      79 79
      Slightly smoky (5 - 10 ppm), sherry, honey, spicy oak
    • Taste
      78 78
      The smoke becomes more intense (~ 15 ppm), vanilla, caramel, very slightly spicy
    • Finish
      77 77
      medium (6/10)

  10. Falnor scored this whisky 73 points Connoisseur

    A dram perfect for 'just' drinking while doing stuff like watching a movie, having a game or great for beginners. The price is good, but too light and not at all complex for most malt drinkers.
