The older batches are definitely different from the newer ones, but not necessarily better.

So much more depth than more recent A'Bunadhs. It is more cask and less of the young spirit. Raisins, fruit cake with plenty of cinnamon sprinkled on top. With time notes of caramel, brown sugar and smoking wood. With water leather shows up.

Big and powerful, its milk chocolate with plenty of spices, cinnamon on another level. Sweet caramel with a thick layer of dark berries underneath.

Little musty, old casks with some moldy leather. Short to medium, a touch of sulphur.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Vast and big-bodied. Sweetness, a good malty feel and plenty of fruit, a trace of peat. Nutty.
Palate: Sherry leads the way, usurped by a fruity, rich spiciness. Dark and nutty with a touch of mint.
Finish: Warm, smoky sherry, peppery and slightly citrussy before a finale of dark chocolate.

    Nose: Rich, th

ick fruits, sultanas, sugar, syrup and dates. Biscuity, Big and sweet.

Palate: Big, thick fruit here as well.Plums,Prunes, Sultanas, Espresso, dark chocolate, buttery biscuit. Wow, it’s just huge on the palate. it’s like an atomic bomb, but sherried.

Finish : Long, with dark chocolate and double espresso.

Bottom line: If you love sherry bombs, this one is just for you. Price is very good (later batches 30,31 are way cheaper) and most batches are very good. It’s a real bomb i love, it has a very respectable place in my bar.

Pfff, this is not a whisky to be taken lightly. Sit down and relax. It's a sherry bomb and that takes some getting used to. If you ever will....
    • Nose
Full fruity aromas (prumes on alcohol) and heavy sherry aromas (oloroso). Indeed a firm nose!
    • Taste
A viscous and syrup-like mouthfeel. At the beginning (the attack) a full and powerful blow to the taste buds. What a whisky! Sherry banging around the mouth.
    • Finish
      Long, warm and spicy (pepper).

I Love the power of Aberlour! It has great taste of sherry and fruits.

This also is a powerful scotch so I don`t recommend it to new whisky

users. It is good to gain a palate that recognizes the difference

between cask strength and some that are less ABV like 40% or 43%.
